Hello all,

I am new to the forum and the Integra lifestyle, and love it.

My question, that I have searched all over the internet to find a solution is about the limitations of customizations in the digital space of these newer vehicles. It seems like there are just a lack of options when it comes to customizing or editing what they give you off the factory floor. Why is there not an option to eliminate Amazon Alexa from the steering wheel? Why would you want both Google Assistant and Alexa? The last post that I saw about this situation was in 2024 and it seemed to just be given up on in the end with no solutions to the "problem". Yeah, I can live with it too, but it sure would be nice to just push the button and get what I want. I mean, this is now MY car, do what heck I want you to.

I have a lot of gripes with this infotainment limitations within these newer vehicles, which mostly should be directed at Google, but that probably wont get me far. I currently am an old (43) college student studying "Information Systems" and this systems limitations are extremely handcuffed considering what is there and what it should be able to actually do.

Thoughts, work arounds, comments, lets go!

Thanks a ton,
Wisco

I so wish there was a system for these cars similar to what I had used for my Bimmer. We used something called Bimmercode that allowed us to code in/code out various features for performance, infotainment, etc. Customizing the infotainment setup was awesome.

Japanese companies like Honda have poor infotainment software in general. Acura in particular lists the simple feature of using the entire infotainment screen on the 2025 RDX as an entire reason to purchase the vehicle. Something that can easily be an OTA update.

Duuuuude, that would be so awesome! Bimmercode, ha.

I would think that all of these infotainment systems would be similar, this is my first personal experience with one honestly. I assume they market it in a blanket sense and bid for the contracts.

BMW probably takes the "make it yourself" in house model vs the "Buy" option. Acura being an upgraded Honda I thought would take that option too. We just have to find a way into Googles system and get what we want! Need some AcuCode or something!

I find it funny too that I have to see my speed in three different spots. 2 on the dash and 1 on the HUD. Give me the option to eliminate the center speed and rely on what I can see right in front of my face.

I'm not giving up on getting rid of Alexa, it's going to happen.

Hahaha...with Bimmercode, I was able to code in Sport Plus driving mode, unlock the exhaust valve and set to always open, disable auto start/stop permanently, change and customize my entire gauge cluster, change the start-up and shutdown animations and graphics, change all chimes and sounds, change headlight and taillight patterns, add new interior LED colors, etc. With the infotainment, I was able to code in studio sound with countless different capabilities and settings, kill certain features, add certain features, etc. All of this went straight through OBD-II wirelessly.

It would be INCREDIBLE if someone was able to create something like that for these platforms.
Thing with Bimmer is that they leave a lot on the table, but hidden. If you have the know-how, instead of paying for particular features, you can code things in and out because they do this. I am unsure as to exactly how much Acura/Honda leave up for grabs in this regard on these platforms and how many things are "hidden" waiting to be tapped into. Personally, coding in a boost gauge would be ideal perk for me.

Pretty much all manufacturers use Bosch ecu so underneath they're not too different. It's just about what features they wanted to enable and how they coded the registry. It extends beyond the infotainment and ties into the entire canbus as well. Other missing things are a washer fluid sensor and memory seats that should be retrofittable but without access to the Bosch registry you can't activate the gateways or change values.

I'd love for my one touch indicator to blink 4 times instead of 3. Small thing, but on my audi and vw that was the perfect amount for hwy lane changes.

Best bet is likely to make enough noise for obd eleven to jump in and develop the integration. I meant to reach out to them a while back, but just got busy...

I am not sure there should be that much to complain about. Think about a little over 6 plus years ago when most cars did not have Apple Carplay or Android Auto and we had to live in that world. Being able to use those two environments in your car is game changing and should be satisfaction enough for most.

Yeas but I have more games on my car than I do my phone and I can't get rid of them. I think that is absolutely absurd.

Boost gauge makes sense. Angry birds does not.

I am one to be happy with what I have, and am not fully complaining about the situation... But would like to have some options to make the car do what I would like.

Something like a press of a button should be a changeable situation. As Americans we sit in these things a lot of our life's traveling back and forth to work or for long drives. Ease of access is all I'm asking for.
