I love the clean look of the fitcamx, but are there better options out there in terms if quality of recordings? Been reading it doesnt capture license plates well.

I have always gone Viofo for best value.
It's neither the best in terms of video quality or features and you can get other ones cheaper, but when it goes on sale (pretty much once a month), you'd struggle to find a better bang for buck dashcam.

I have a Mini2 in the ITS and am happy with it.

+1 for Viofo

I have the A229 Plus with Front and Rear camera @1440P

Mine is hardwired for power, but for 24/7 recording, good to have LiFePO4 battery.

So dont need to hardwire to fuse for 24/7 collision recording?
Oooh, that's a really good question. I think you probably do. I enabled the motion detector feature but I don't think it works, and that's probably because of the power is not constant on. I guess for me it works as I'm garage kept mostly.

Im not the most handy person...is this difficult to do? Im not looking for 24/7 recording, but maybe collision recording? In that case, do i need the lifepo4 battery?

Thanks!

Not hard at all. Just a bit time consuming so it comes out good and also a matter of using the right fuse slots. Keep in mind that it is directional…that stalled me for a good while.

Front camera is easy to do, I'd suggest using plastic tools to wedge the behind the pillars and dash. Rear camera took more time to do. I was able to feed the wire through the headliner into the grommet on the hatch for a cleaner install.

I would go hardwired just to have the clean installation and not have see or use the cig lighter adaptor. You won't necesarrily need the battery for the collision recording, especially if you're driving often, but so not to kill your car battery, I'd get a lifepo4 battery.

Edit: I have an FL5 so it might be a bit different on the rear hatch from the DE5.
