Gauging the room out of curiosity -

Background - I'm feeling a midlife crisis coming on, and I just want one of these cars. In order to do that now, I'll need to dump my crew cab Titan that is currently my only vehicle. I no longer need to tow, and primarily transport my two young kids and hockey gear. I feel like I can check 99% of my DD needs with an ITS equipped with a midsize roof box accessory to make life and weekend getaways easier.

That said, I have been driving a full size truck for 7 years (because kids) after life with 370Zs and Mazdaspeed3s and such. I miss having fun driving. I've decided I'd be happy to consider borrowing a truck when I REALLY need it and enjoying life and sharing my enjoyment of fun cars with my kids.

Anyone here have a truck or big SUV that they dropped in order to go to an ITS? Any regrets?

I had a 2022 Frontier Pro-X before. Now we have ITS and Rav4. Though it's nice having the usefulness as a truck we live in suburbia and after 1.5 years realizing you only actually used it like a truck 2-3 times it wasn't worth it. Almost six months now and not needed a truck for any reason. It's different for every lifestyle but most people drive a truck because they like them rather than having them for their actual use case.

I’m coming from a full time crew cab driver of each for the last 6 years - Silverado, Ram, Ram with a Cherokee XJ I built while owning those 3 (12 years). Sold the Jeep & Trans Am, traded in the truck for the ITS. So far we’re still very happy! Can pack the 2 you get boys/baby & groceries/hockey gear. Just can’t haul my ladders lol No regrets whatsoever.

I had a similar experience. I traded in my 2015 Odyssey Touring trim that I bought brand new at the end of 2009. I also have two young kids (between 8 and 11). And I also felt like I was having a midlife crisis so I traded in the minivan which I loved driving believe it or not, for an ITS. It was tough at first because I was getting a lot of hate from the family because they all loved the Ody, and it felt like a downgrade for them. But they seemed to have gotten over it somewhat now. My kids still make wisecracks about the car, though.
I've been having a blast driving the ITS, especially since it is my first manual. The crazy thing is that I am driving it a lot more conservatively than I drove my Ody, yet I am still enjoying it. The gearbox is amazing and it has features that make it easy to drive even for a beginner.
With all that said my wife recently traded her Rav4 for a Highlander Platinum, so that covers us having a larger vehicle with more capacity. If she had gone with another Rav4 or an RX350 then I would have kept the Ody for another couple of years and probably traded it for a 3-row SUV. So I am glad she went with the Highlander.

I've made some funny trades ... just traded my 2022 Sierra 2500 Diesel AT4 for the ITS. I only tow my car hauler a few times per year and our Yukon does an adequate job there. the yukon is also our main road tripper (glorious). ITS is a great daily and way more fun than a truck, but it doesn't do truck stuff. I'm sure i'll add a truck back to the garage sooner than my wife would like because it's just nice to have the bases covered. for small odd jobs you can always rent a pickup periodically as needed!

I came from a 21' Ridgeline RTL-E. More luxurious than the ITS.
It was a vehicle that I hated because it was huge and "slow" but started to love it after getting rid of it. 🤷‍♂️
In reality, I wanted to keep both but it was too much money.

I miss the worry-free drive. Now I have to be aware of not scratching wheels or road debris that usually I just go over with a vehicle with more clearance. Miss the bed and the trunk that you can simply hose off the dirt.

Can't deny that the ITS offers a more engaging driving experience. :D

How can you buy a 2015 in 2009? :nixon:

For some of us small car lovers/owners, the ITS IS an SUV/Truck in both size and practicality.

😆 Yep. I had a hatch before this that I used as a pickup truck. Hauled bags of concrete that totalled over 500 lbs along with concrete blocks. I loved parking next to a F250 where the guy is leaving with one little bag and I have a whole cart of building supplies.

Yes! Had a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with a cummins and a 6 speed manual, drove that thing for 13 years and sold it to family, the mid-life crisis is real, do it, you won't regret it.

We went from an RSX, a Honda Pilot, and a Subaru to the ITS and a Toyota Sienna. I was primarily driving the Pilot until we traded it in for the Sienna and the RSX became my daily again. The biggest difference between the Pilot and the RSX/ITS is that my Pilot just had all kinds of little nooks and crannies to store junk. As a result I am actually able to keep my ITS MUCH cleaner than our minivan which I like, but to be completely honest the kids really prefer riding around in the Sienna for anything more than a quick pick-up or drop-off at school or practice or whatever.

Obviously the driving experience is just completely different between them, and 5,000 miles later I still LOVE hopping into my ITS every chance I get, but it really wouldn't be ideal for the kids if it were my only car. Before my wife picked up the Sienna I was actually very strongly considering the MDX Type S.

I traded in a Rivian R1T. No regrets as my wife hated driving the R1T and gave me an opportunity to grab a fun car in trade in and to get some $$$ back. I still have my 2010 Tundra for hauling stuff though.

Traded in my beloved 2021 Army Green Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. Felt the instant regret driving off in the brand new ITS. Still haven’t gotten over it :(

I've been the biggest anti electric car guy on the planet but my little brother just got a "used" R1T quad motor with 2500 miles for 61k. After listening to me tell him how dumb he is for buying an electric one too many times, he showed up in my driveway with it and demanded I drive it. If you can get over how lame it looks from the outside, that thing has an amazing interior and is ridiculously fun to drive. If it ends up being halfway reliable I'd say it's an awesome deal but that's a big "if".

I should caveat that we have my wife's 2023 Infiniti QX60 in the stable that we can lean on in the event there's something too big for the ITS. I really think we can get it done. Now it's just convincing my wife of that.
