Black After Market Intercooler

Has anyone installed an after market intercooler in black? Especially if you have a black Integra? I have a majestic black ITS and am buying the PRL intercooler but want to see how the black on black look. All I see online are the chrome intercooler pics. Please post some pics if you use a black intercooler.

Probably not on an ITS just yet, but there used to be a belief that painting intercoolers black would make them more efficient (since pretty much disproven...). But that shouldn't stop you from painting it if you like the look!

An "inverse" situation like the painted PRL stencil might look pretty cool. Something like this:

Thanks. And you are right that none on ITS. But I also could not find any pics of FL5 or FK8 with a black intercooler.

Also, I wonder if someone can make a Type S stencil or just the S that we can spray paint on the intercooler front. I think that would be cooler than having the intercooler brand.

I love been wanting a black intercooler on my white teg and was thinking of doing white INTEGRA stencil. Black on black probably looks means as hell

I think there is a TEP ITS with a black PRL on the forum if you search around. (no stencil)

True... but ultimately there's a strong argument to suggest that painting an intercooler has detrimental effects. Personally I would not recommend it at all if you ever intend to track the car.

Watch the vid I linked in my first reply for a thorough breakdown, there are several reasons you may not want to paint your intercooler and the vid may just convince you not to.

This plus being cheaper plus no wait for coating is why I went unfinished. I also wonder how long it will stay black without some sort of protection in front of it. When I pulled the stock intercooler it was already pretty beat up with only 500 miles on it.

I see several videos claiming a black one is better so I went with the black powder coated prl one but I’m an aspec. If you go black it becomes unnoticeable unless you spray the logo on. Which in my opinion, looks better. Sorry my car is white

Thank you for posting the picture.. Your car looks really awesome. I ended up ordering a black one too yesterday and plan to make a Type S stencil to spray on. If creating a Type S stencil is too difficult, then I will use the PRL stencil instead. The intercooler of course is in backorder but I will post some pics once installed.

I know right. At first I wanted to use the PRL stencil and paint it dark gray so it is not so obvious, but decided not to.

It's a toss between being sleeper to that subtle wink wink dare u type look lol but this stealth look in feeling I don't know which route I'll go yet I have the LSM color

Someone needs to make a Type-S stencil for aftermarket intercoolers. PRL makes solid products but I'm not a fan of putting any aftermarket logo on the front like that. Think a Type-S in OEM font would look good.
