Poked around here and the civicxi Type-R forums and didn't see a comprehensive downpipe thread. Thought we could use one. Mostly selfish as I want the community to aid my research as I shop for one :p.

What I've rustled up so far is in the table below. All info and pricing is from the manufacturers' sites. Using immense willpower, I have kept my opinions out of the table. As y'all find more, post the links and I'll update the table.

An added bonus of the TSP DP is that they have a no CEL guarantee. I think all the others will throw codes if you don't have a tune. Something to keep in mind.

I want opinions! I've basically settled on the Two Step option, but it's not cheap and they say 8-12 weeks for delivery. Anyone have a good experience with other options? Maybe an intercooler down the road but basically all I'll have is intake, tune and downpipe for now.

Advice?

I was thinking 27won also, and somebody said no, get TSP. better quality and will stand up better on the track.

I ordered the TSP right when I purchased my car in June and just got it last month. In the meantime I was impatient so got the Ballade Sports downpipe and have been running that until I install the TSP with a new turbo. The Ballade downpipe made the exhaust much louder with a rasp around 3k rpms, was able to get rid of the rasp and quiet things down a little with a Vibrant 2.5" bottle resonator installed where the FL5's extra resonator sits in the OEM piping, but the OEM exhaust is still pretty loud with the valve open, to the point people are surprised it's an OEM exhaust.

I think the catted TSP downpipe will quiet things down whenever I get the new turbo in and can install both items together. I'm also running a PRL Front Pipe with the OEM exhaust.

Side note on my FK7 I started with the 27Won downpipe and then switched over to the PRL GESI downpipe (before they handed over the design to TSP) and liked not having to disable the 2nd O2, but the quality and performance of both was great and just a toss up between personal preference.

I went catless on my last car and I'll never do that again, wasn't worth it. Hated the smell and I felt like s a shithead. I ended up adding a cat in the midpipe just to have some sort of cat in the system, it worked ok.

For me, 27WON offers more data and measurements for their piece than anyone else, I like knowing what I'm getting. Also, it gives room to grow if I decide to go big turbo, like their Kuro+.
The TSP seems to offer most of that but there's less technical info available.

Thank you for that. Another form member just mentioned to me that TSP is cool because you can run the stock tune if you had to. I guess that’s probably the only downside to getting the 27won.
