Hey guys,

super new to the forum, but saw some of the same issues as I was looking around but I have tried everything besides going to the dealer lol. After installing the PRL HVI I got into the car and the car had no pops on sport plus, then I ran my reader and had low voltage code I cleared the code and the pops came back but not nearly as aggressive as before. Anyone else experiencing this? Thoughts on next steps?
Thank you!

Don’t sweat it, I’ve had this happen to me multiple times. Just clear the codes and make sure the car is fully warmed. They will come back as before.

mine is tuned on phearable and its pops really loud so I can't tell the difference after my hvi.

There are a few parameters such as 4 bars on the coolant temp, cat at the right temp and power cycle. If you aren't getting pops after clearing codes you are going to have to turn off your car and start it back up. Some people say do it 3x times

makes me feel a lot better lol, I will give it a week to see if it comes back more aggressive. I am going on 45 minute plus drives to make sure everything is as warm as they can get and it’s still not there so I will try the on and off 3 times and give it some more time to see if it comes back. If not I guess it’s time for an milltek lol

Do you have any other mods besides HVI? Aftermarket DP? Had p0136 slow response code from bottom 02 after installing DP. Cleared once and has not returned. Then I had a few weird codes after installing HVI because I didn’t let the oil from the filter drain out enough and some got sucked into the intake. Clearing codes and a few drive cycles the burbles returned.
My HVI filter came SOAKED in oil. Pull it out of plastic and let it sit overnight so excess oil can drain before installing.

There is no relation to the intake and how "aggressive" the pops/bangs are. As you have learned, any sort of code will disable the pops/bangs until it is resolved.

Understood, is it possible that I cleared the codes with my reader but there’s still a “underlying”/“pending” code that the dealers will have to clear in order for the pops to be where they were at before the error code?

The pops/bangs are "all or nothing" with the factory tune and there is a long list of parameters that have to be met before the ECU triggers this behavior. It is possible to have a pending code that does not trigger a check engine light but prevents the pops/bangs. Even after clearing codes you will still have to complete a drive cycle or two, make sure everything is warm, correct drive mode, etc before the action is triggered.

No, a reader is a reader. there are no hidden codes.
however, your ECU uses closed circuit which means it uses sensor values to calculate what values it needs for certain things.. a Code will only trigger when your value is X far out of normal range. The pops and bangs is simply your ECU retarding the timing while adding extra fuel when it determines a significant load decrease. This requires a lot of sensors in play to meet the requirements so it is possible to not meet the requirements and not have codes although having a code for one of the required sensors will certainly disable the pops and bangs to protect the engine.

Thank you for the input and feedback. I will attempt to drive as much as I can this week to fully complete the drive cycles and see if anything changes!

How do you like the phearable tune? Is it an OTS tune? I want to get mine tuned but was debating custom tune or OTS to start.

He tunes it to what mods you have.

I like what I have now but, the Integra Type S is already great in stock form.
Yes I agree, ITS is great in stock but I’m also not a mechanic and can only do simple things like adding air in tires. I wouldn’t even know how to do my own oil change.

I do have a question though… adding the PRL intake make the turbo sound louder and the blow off value sound louder without any other mods?

thanks,
