Key Hold lifts hatch?

When I press the trunk hold button on the key... is it suppose to open and lift the trunk or just blink the car?
I am confused as I had the impression it means it would lift the hatch or pop the hatch a bit. However, it is not so... rather, when I press and hold. The car just flashes.
I open the hatch when pressing/holding the buttons under the hatch (I am by the car of course).

Exactly. You still have to press the button underneath to pop it.

The only scenario I can think of is if you've walked away from the car but your kid forgot something in the trunk and you don't want to also unlock the doors, you'd use the button. Otherwise about as useful as turn signals on a BMW.

Yep, not a useful button. The only purpose I can think of is to unlock the trunk for somebody who you don't trust enough to open your doors to, but you do trust enough to watch them open it from a distance...like if you're an illegal arms dealer

There's probably some safety standard they have to follow for keyless entry, or they just didn't want to ship a fob without some form of trunk button.

Indeed, Acura could of thought of something more intuitive and purposeful in this design here. Hopefully they can repurpose this with some software change so it can be better utilized!
