Here's one for you guys and gals...I've noticed that the on board mpg calculator is off all the time. When I first got the car it was only off by about 2 mpg (I check actual mpg at every fill up), and when I went to fill up today it showed a whopping 4 mpg difference! What the heck?!? It's showing that I'm pushing almost 42mpg (it was like 41.8), but MY calculation only showed 37.8. I can see a small discrepancy like 1-2mpg, but 4? Really Acura? And this isn't a new thing, it's been since I rolled it off the lot. I know this isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I've never had a car that far off. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to recalibrate so it's more accurate?

I'm getting about 20 mpg and it's showing over that. It's always been an inflated estimate for most of the vehicles I have driven.

I've never seen an mpg calculation in a vehicle that wasn't overly optimistic. The wife's GMC is off 5-6mpg most of the time.

I average 1-3 under what the integra shows which is still well above the epa numbers at 29-30 city and near 40 highway (6mt model).

Yeah the last few fill ups have been averaging 3mpg under, but I about blew a gasket when it showed 4 under what the car said. I've never had a vehicle so inaccurate on mileage. And yes this is a small gripe, and I still averaged well over the posted mpg for mixed driving, which I'm ecstatic about! Touching 39mpg in a manual with some stop n go traffic and mostly 55mph and under is really great. I just wish it was that pie in the sky 41-42 mpg that is shows. That'd really be something.

To note my vehicle history just for reference:

2021 Jeep Renegade TH
2019 Fiat 500 Turbo (manual)
2015 Fiat 500 Abarth (manual)
2015 Fiat 500L
2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia (awd, and the wife's car)
2004 Pontiac Vibe (manual)

I'm no stranger to cars that don't have the best of anything going for them, but they all have been dead accurate when it comes to calculating mpg, distance to empty, engine run time, etc.

Oh, and who in the world gave a us a 12.4 gallon tank with only TEN little bars on the fuel gauge?!? One bar equals 1.24 gallons??? Who the hell looked at that and yeah "yeah that'll be fine..."? it drives me crazy thinking about it. Just imagine sitting in on that meeting and a room full of people decided, collectively, that was ok. why not just make one bar equal one gallon?

And that's my rant, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

...I really do love my car, it's been amazing in every way, and I'm going to drive it until the wheels fall off.

I would not worry about 4 mpg difference one time. If it was consistently 4 mpg off then I would be a bit concerned.

Based on your list it sounds like we can deduce that FCA has some of the most accurate mpg calculations on the market.

Regarding the fuel gauge/tank size: you are not alone in your gripes. The most common complaint is that the fuel light comes on with ~3gal remaining in the tank.

To this regard, i havent seen anybody else mention this but i have noticed that as the fuel level drops, the range estimate becomes less optimistic. I have had <10miles of range, put 2 gallons in the tank and had the range jump to 90miles. Honda definitely did not want anybody running out of gas with these cars.
