Hey - has anyone taken a torch to the titanium inlet pipe? Thinking about doing it and interested in first-hand experience. Before install, after install, torch used, technique, etc. If I do it - I'd be looking to get as much blue color as possible!

I've done it on a bunch of titanium bolts. I use a standard propane torch. Practice makes perfect and less is more. You'll want to give it some heat and stop when it turns purple and let it settle as the color will keep changing after you remove the heat. If you have the torch on it until it turns blue, that will be too much because when you remove the heat/torch it'll keep changing colors to lighter blue. It'll turn gold first and if you remove the heat you'll see it start to turn purple on its own. I'd just go little by little as possible till you get the blue you want.

Thanks! Been watching some videos on it and everything you said (take heat off before your color - basically) tracks with what I understand as well. I'm just not sure how to evenly heat this rather large tube. Short laterally swipes or long longitudinal passes. The long passes seem like the would heat more evenly, but force me to do a larger area at a time.

With a smaller propane torch it'll be tough to heat a large area at once, but going around might be easier to blend the area with it mounted in a way where you can go around it in a circle and slowly spiral across the length. If you go long ways across you might end up with streaks/stripes of varying shades or overheating areas trying to blend. It's a big ask for doing it the first time without practice.

Thanks for the input!
