People are paying 60k+ for the Type-R, why is it surprising that these will fetch the same? Maybe because they aren't imported everyone is expecting them to be more readily available?

I stumbled across what I thought was a Type-S review on Youtube, but it turned out to be an ad for a (quite possibly the first) used 2024 Type-S up for grabs in Missouri... for the low low price of $62,500... only 181 miles... who's pulling out their checkbook?

And I am sure that these folks "flipping" at under 500 miles SURELY broke in the engine and brakes properly 🤪

Good find! I came across a Reels video on Youtube that alluded to this car being for sale, but didn't include a price or means of finding the listing.

So before more people jump to the conclusion that these people are villains, keep in mind that there are a TON of speculative financial opportunities out there--these people have chosen to invest $X into a new Type-S in hope they can quickly realize a profit that's acceptable to them. Sure, it's an arguably risky venture, but risk is subjective.

Assuming the Missouri listing was purchased in Missouri for MSRP, the OTD price with tax, title, and registration was likely ~$57,600--assuming they can actually sell the car for $62,500, this would be a profit of ~7.8% + any profit that they earn on tax, title, registration, and financing with the sale. Making a quick 7.8% is tough, and is going to require a fair amount of risk and speculation.

The California listing, on the other hand... this one confuses me. If it was purchased in California for MSRP, the OTD price was likely ~$57,900. The car's price of $57,300 suggests the seller could be taking a small loss on the car. I have to imagine it was bought with some kind of discount, but there aren't too many incentives to be found.

If the new buyer lives in CA they will have to pay $4154 in Sales Tax (perhaps more depending on city & county of residence) plus registration to the DMV, so this doesn't sound like a good deal for either party. The only real winner is the State of CA.

Ha -- so true. The state is always going to get their cash. (And again, and again, and again each time the car trades hands). Growing up in Arizona I loved being able to buy/sell private party and pay no sales tax. Made it possible to enjoy a variety of different vehicles without getting eaten alive by taxes from each transaction.

Oh, you are in Canada.

That is about $75,000 USD...still a big figure, but had me shocked for a moment.
