One thing I'll add; even though these wheels are half an inch wider and stick out a little, there's considerably more wind and road noise coming from these tires, even on city streets. I'm not sure what kind of insulation Honda used to address road noise, but it sure seems like they didn't use very much of it.

Been going through several aftermarket shift knobs. Recently landed on one I really like, and it matches the metal trim closely. It’s from an FK8 10th gen Type-R. Feels so good!

Did you have any issues removing the boot collar to change the knob? I’ve been completely unable to pull it down so I can change out the OEM knob

No issues at all. You should just be able to use your hands. If you really need to, use a pry tool or a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a soft towel.

I wonder if its due to the tires being worn, keep us updated once you get new tires

I had to gently use a small flat head on the sides to get down. Definitely was more difficult then others I’ve changed.

It's unlikely that increase in noise has to do with the wider setup going from 8 to 8.5 (you only gained like 12mm of poke). I'd agree with Escobar that it's probably just the worn tires.

I got the Conti DWS 06 Plus tires installed. No more worrying about about a hastily done plug job. In the bag with my invoice and key was the other ~4" of nail that must have gotten pushed into the tire, when I plugged it.

My project for today was to undo something my dealer did against my wishes. I specifically asked for them to not install the splash guards and they did anyway. To their credit, they gave them to me for free so I tried them out for a month to see if they would grow on me. They did not, so I removed today, IMO, looks much better with out

if anyone in the SFL area wants a very slightly used but in perfect condition splash guards in Liquid Carbon, LMK

I’m still just under 3000 miles at the three month mark because of the joy of working at home. I just don’t drive as much. I have noticed I am getting better at driving the car, becoming one with the cars limits. And my happiness with the car has risen as a direct result. I picked a higher seat position that really helped my clutch technique. My first impression was to set it to the floor like a BRZ but I have found that works against you at 5ft 11in, or at least for the way I sit and shift in the car. So now I do appreciate the car more. Wild.

And I do feel the limits of certain choices of the design. The All season tires have to go. I’d like prettier rims and that prettier carbon fiber rear spoiler while at it. The clutch then needs strengthening a bit for any Hondata speed inprovements and or intake, rad, or exhaust upgrades, yet a mere 50 to 100 HP and more matching torque would make all the difference. That be worth it if you don’t plan on a Type S or CTR. But the beauty of the car is the over engineering of the excellent handling thats ready for most speed upgrades and then its also paired with the spectacular usefulness of the cabin space and hatch. And finally, the bolstering should have TLX Type S seats levels of bolstering and just the last bit of comfort that the TLX Type S seats have would be extra nice, a cherry on top. As it is, the seats are better than Honda, but still are not as good as Acura’s best as in the MDX.

And I feel that the new CTR has the better rear seat head room design. Funny, I’ve yet to actually seat anyone but a girl back there, so perhaps it’s OK. But why not cover everyone 6FT and under? Just to have a slightly more steeply curved look? Do the Japanese know we are generally tall over here? Just give me 1 or 2 more inches and that would be perfecto.

However, even with the CTR out there, 100 more HP and all, those little Acura touches make a great deal of difference. Such as the amazingly better than normal ELS 3D stereo system, little door lights everywhere, slightly better road noise dampening, power seats with auto backing up seats upon entry and exit (huge feature for me), memory seat positioning, better paint, better interior materials, more premium head lamps, parking sensors, sunroof (sunroofs are bad for weight balancing, but good for airflow and sunlight options, and I think very much still worth it) ETC. I love the hatch utility so much. Still, I would very much like a CTR for that extra 100 HP. And the new Integra Type S would be worth it if they don’t mess with the CTR formula too much, as I could have a CTR and my little Acura touches and improvements too.

Also, I noticed that while pure city driving is far more than expected when driving spirited, the overall gas effect is still very thrifty and positive if you drive highway for any significant amounts, then the average goes from 15 miles per gallon to 35-40 miles per gallon. Otherwise if you are driving all city, just note not to go over 3000 RPMs often, or you will get only OK gas usage. You can be ultra reserved on driving in the city at the extreme cost of a boring ass drive in slow motion with even more shifting work. Which is not me, not why I bought this kind of car, so driving spirited in sport mode just makes me too happy if I have the room to accelerate within the current speed limits. So I will forever have bad city miles in the car, but again, the highway makes up for it quite a bit, and I don’t drive often enough for the city miles to be an issue.

Thats all I have to share for now. I’d take a 2024 CTR over my new Integra if I had the chance for one at MSRP, and I’d be happy to wait in my new Intergra for a few years to get a CTR at that MSRP price, but with the new Integra Type S coming soon, and with a more reasonable dealer (Acura does not do markups nearly as much or as aggressively in my area in NJ), I don’t suspect I’ll have to wait long to pay MSRP for what is a very, very similar car to the 2024 CTR. The GR86/GR Corolla/GR Supra are all out for various reasons. I’d have to step into a different and higher priced set of cars to get more excited, like a luxjury sports sedan with an emphasis on the sports part of the design, or even a MDX Type S. I love the new Dark Horse Mustang and the new mid engine Corvette but like the MDX Type S I hate the gas usages of those vehicles. I want a super-sporty (and much more sporty than a TLX Type S) and reliable auto high end transmission so I can focus more on my radio car DJ-ing and Starbucks coffee, but otherwise I’ll take a stick.

And don’t pay more than MSRP for a Civic Si, CTR, Integra, or Integra Type S, and if you do, certainly not more than 2 or 3 grand over. It’s just not worth it. There will always be options that will not over charge and will be the better options in that case, as the world is made up of deals, you don’t absolutely need that sub par deal. Even if you have to jump to the next price level, at least then you are getting more for your money spent.
