Did you feel like they were 2 different cars? I own a 2020 FK8 with 15k miles on it. I am looking to trade in my FK8 also for the Type S. But because of different circumstances I now need a more adult looking car. Thank you for posting the quote . That was much needed info. Here are my 2 cents. First of course do what is best for you and your family. But after driving the Type S. If I could keep the FK8 and get the Type S. I would. They are 2 different cars. I would have the Type S as a daily driver and Tune the FK8. The FK8 will always be a head turner (good or bad depending on opinion). Both of these cars value don't look like they will fade any time soon. They are both special cars . Just my thoughts.

Again, I disagree. Even though I'm sure there are material differences, they both share the exact same manual drivetrain, and beyond that they're both FWD sporty hatchbacks. While the utility of a FWD sporty hatchback is pretty high, if you have to have two cars why would you not consider something that would introduce an entirely different experience, or serve a different role?

I mentioned a Miata or a Tundra, both IMO excellent examples. I just traded in my Boxster and while that was a fantastic car to drive on many levels, arguably the part I'll miss the most is the ability to put the top down on a perfect day. You can't do that in either an FK8 or a DE5.

You can put a refrigerator in the back of a Tundra. Or a toilet. Can't do that in an FK8 or DE5.

Or just a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive car? Maybe one with a dual-clutch or ZF auto?

Mix it up, man.

There are way too many good cars out there to have two of nearly the exact same experience.

Don't go scaring people--if my ex's Fit would hold a refrigerator (small, hatch open, too much hanging out) the FK8 or DE5 can haul a toilet.

Used toilet? Just stick it in a trash can and bust it up with a sledge. Done it a few times.
I always had a wagon or hatchback and made it work like a truck. Even loaded 15 bags of concrete in one and cinder blocks for a retaining wall in another. One vehicle can do it all.
I do agree with getting a different vehicle. Maybe a hopped up stang or something. Tire roaster for weekend work.

Dude, you can afford both so I assume you have some financial sense. I really hope youre not actually going with a 84 month loan.

Yeah that's a good point. Just think about that for a sec... the difference in interest between 84 months and even 72 months is probably 1/3 the cost of an FK8.

Got to agree with Optronix on seeking diversity if going the two car route. For years my wife and I both had compact luxury sport sedans (i.e. TSXs, 3 Series, Saabs and Volvos), and the only way to really decide which we used for a given purpose was where they were parked at our house. Now she has a Macan and I have a manual Integra. Not a week goes by that we don't purposely select the vehicle based on the task at hand. Date night, bad weather or location with lots of traffic, Porsche. Back roads, need for better mpgs or driving/parking in a sketchy area, Acura. Type S daily plus a convert on the side sounds just about perfect if you don't need more space than an Integra provides.

My payment is going to be about $700 per month. Which is what I pay now for my Type R. I'm putting $5k down. I went ahead and made a $1k deposit to hold the car until I completely decide what I'm going to do.

I've thought a lot about it and I'm ganna talk them into giving me $39k for the Type R, give me another $500 off on accessories, and sell me the car for $59k.

If they do that I will trade my Type R in and I should end up under $700 a month. Interest rate will probably be somewhere around 8%. Which I think is extremely high especially for my credit and payment history.

But everything has went up. I will just refinance when the rates drop. I will end up financing between $40k-$43k roughly.

They are getting me approved with Acura financing.

That's exactly how I'm going to do it. Don't think I could ever give up cruising the back roads with the top down on a nice sunset drive.
