Any idea is the part is revised? Also do you have the whole part # for the rack and pinion?
Good point. The part number in my paperwork is:
53620-3s5-a24 (rack, power steering).

I was wondering that after I picked it up...did they actually fix the root cause of the issue with these replacements, or will we be back in to get it fixed a few thousand miles later again? It's nice to see that NHTSA report, though.

I really don't know the difference between A04 and A24 but both seem to be a newer versions. Would be Interesting to know what was original installed part # that failed.

I own 2024 Integra A-Spec Tech and my vehicle has 1600k miles. I don't have the issue described here, however I do feel that when steering wheel centered, it is a bit lighter. When I drive straight and want/need to make micro corrections, I move steering wheel left/right and feel the normal heft, but when I return to center it feels slightly light towards/at the center. This could be normal as maybe there is no torque needed to be when steering wheel centered. Do you notice anything similar?

I noticed this couple of days ago after installing and configuring AcuraLink app.

it wasn't me who posted that but my '24 also started showing symptoms at around 7500km (~5000miles), like clockwork.

i had waited for MY2024 for the same reason, hoping it'd be dealt with. It was delivered in late May'23 so one of the first batches. Dealer isnt aware of the issue, was their first time seeing the Honda TSB 23-037 that doesnt include the Integra. They agreed during an oil change that something is weird and that I should get the corporate involved to do their job for them, so I'm waiting to hear from Acura Canada now.

When I was buying my Integra, dealer had 2023 and 2024 models on the lot. 2023 models would get me $2,000 off MSRP. I opted for 2024(with the same discount) just to make sure Acura ironed out some of the issues they had with earlier year. Don't really know if that is the case as both models seem to have similar imperfections/build quality. I am sure Honda/Acura started hearing about this issue back in 2022 and up, so models releasing in spring of 2023 should of had some modified steering racks. Maybe company will have to release multiple updates to the part to make it perfect and each iteration should be a bit better than the previous.

Wow, so you have to call Acura to get them to force the shop to honour their warranty? That's fucked.

That was me.

I bought a 2024 CPO with 4500 on the odometer. Stupidly I didn't test drive it before buying it as I'd already test driven the exact same car that was new. Had I test driven it, I'd have not bought it.

I love the car, but the steering issue is maddening. It's like playing a video game with a glitchy controller.

Service advisor is familiar with the issue and said they have several customers experiencing the issue. He said replacing the steering rack is the correct fix, but there is no revised part as of now. Told me if they put in the same part, it would start doing it again. I don't know if I buy that since not every Integra does it. I think I'm going to press them to fix it, and if it does it again, they can warranty it again.

Oh, I see. Why are there so many different part numbers for steering rack if there is no updated part?! So if it is the manufacturing defect with the way gears were treated, then all of the steering racks may have this problem. Some get it as early as 3k miles, others get it after 10k. I think for people who have a mild steering problem can wait until Honda/Acura come up with a solution, while others with severe problem will need to get whatever part dealers can install and then the job may need to be repeated, once the correct/updated part is released. I just personally don't like the idea of having dealerships thinker with a part such as steering rack, let alone doing it many times.

My thoughts exactly. I fired off an email to my service advisor with the information I found here regarding the part numbers. Hopefully I'll hear back soon. I also wanted a written communication in the event the steering locks up to the point where it causes a crash. I want to make sure I can demonstrate that I had reported the issue. I also reported it to the NHTSA.

Everytime I drive my Fit, I found the steering to be jerky/notchy... Hope I don't have this problem.

Crossed fingers for the ITS, up to now all is OK.

"We have not heard anything official from Acura , I did forward your email to our district Parts and Service manage for review."

I accept some of the blame on this one as I should have test driven the car before buying it. The 2024 model I did test drive was perfect. But I also expect Honda would step up and do something for me. It's unacceptable to tell a customer to live with a potential safety issue until a new part is released. At the very least, replace it with a new unit as many times as you have to until a new part is released.

I had the same issue with a Jeep Liberty I owned years ago. It was the diesel version and the torque converter couldn't deal with the low end torque of the diesel. I had 4 torque converters put in under warranty until the vehicle was nearing the end of the powertrain warranty. I then asked the dealer to cover the labor under warranty to install a Suncoast unit I purchased. They did. I never had an issue after that.

My luck with Honda and warranty claims has not been good. I had a Ridgeline that developed a starting issue. When I'd put my foot on the brake and push the start button, it would tell me to put my foot on the brake. I had to mash hard on the brake pedal to get it to start. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was "normal". I knew it wasn't and figured out it was a leaking vacuum check valve. The part was $30 and I replaced it myself. I contacted Honda customer service hoping for a reimbursement, but got nothing. They did call me 6 months after I fixed it and took a "report" from me. But never offered to reimburse me for the part.

Once this "sticky steering "issue becomes an actual recall, then Honda will have to come up with a fix. The fragmentation comes from Honda/Acura not providing clear instructions to dealerships and each dealership act the way they see fit. Some people report a "steering rack" replacement from dealership, others got "this is normal" as a reply or "we have never seen this before". I believe if we move to another car brand, we may see similar issues with warranty work or other problems with customer service. It is just some people get lucky and have a simple issues with the car and are happy with the resolution provided by the dealership.

One of my comrades has a 2019 Honda CRV and has similar issue with car not starting. The car almost came to a out of warranty or it ended recently. He first blamed this on starter and Honda wanted to charge him hundreds of dollars. I told him to get a second opinion and this may not be started as car doesn't even try to start. At the end, Honda found out that this wasn't the starter, but brake switch in the brake pedal.
