Thanks!

I think you answered this but were you at all put off by it not having rear seat vents, sunroof, etc? I was a little irritated by people pointing that stuff out, given its (reported) excellent driving experience—as if not having those cabin things were enough to deter people from getting it. But I like to drive, man, I can’t see myself really caring about that stuff. Sounds like you’re the same?
Exactly the same... could care less, haha. For me, the heated seats, Carplay, and HUD were all "extra" anyway. (Have to say, the HUD is pretty nice, though... don't have to look at the dash at all, so you can just stay focused on the road).

Ok last thing, did you consider buying the Golf R instead? I think it’s down to those two. Maybe it’s comparing apples to slightly different apples.

also I’ve never owned a VW and it sounds like a gigantic pain in the ass.

I appreciate the Golf's small size in today's world, and it absolutely has performance chops. I understand why people like them; they are very quick, and they also have a ton of aftermarket support. I'm glad VW makes them.

But, the shifter felt terrible to me, and the steering did, too. I also didn't get the chassis communication I was looking for (Supra was the same story).

We're all looking for different things in cars... if it's on your list, definitely try and test drive one!

I would say that Honda's K-series powertrains have a far better reliability reputation for a reason, but having said that, the majority of Golf R and VW owners also have no issues, too.

I came from a MK7 GTI which was a great car. I was also considering the MK8 R when it was announced, but the horrendous infotainment and steering wheel/climate touch controls was a dealbreaker for me. Watch some of the YouTube reviews (for example Throttle House) - it's a commonly talked about issue. Other than that the R seems like a great car, but unfortunately for me it was a dealbreaker.
The ITS had pretty much everything I wanted in a car and has been a blast to drive so far. I know a lot of people complain about things like the lack of sunroof, no rear vents, etc. I'm probably one of the few people who is happy there is no sunroof (had bad experiences with them in most cars I've owned). Most other things (power folding mirrors, rear vents, heated steering wheel, etc) can be added aftermarket. And in terms of usability, there is a lot more legroom and usable trunk space (with the seats up at least) in the Integras than the Golfs.

Edit: if you drive one and like the experience, but don't want to spend $50k+ on an F/F and aren't attached to the exterior / interior, the FL5 (CTR) is pretty much mechanically identical. The most common gripe with that car is the over-aggressive damping, but you can grab the ITS module for $250 and swap it (or vice-versa).
If you're cross shopping between the ITS and CTR, I would recommend sitting in both if you have a chance. I went with the ITS for several reasons (heated seats, better sounding exhaust, HUD, more comfy suspension, nostalgia factor). Last week I had a chance to sit in an FL5 at the auto show and found the seats a bit too tight (I'm not huge but I'm also not the smallest person), further solidifying my decision to go with the DE5.

This is a good point. I personally much prefer the FL5 front seats -- as a driver... as a passenger, I do not, and I can tell you most people you take with you, who probably lack your level of enthusiasm for cars, will not prefer them either.

There’s no vitriol here, dude. Are people really trolling on here with that stuff?
It’s interesting to see the contrast between people who read the post in its intended voice and people who read it as trolling. I did not foresee that.
Some of the newer members seem to have short fuses. They arrived when the type-s showed up lol

I mean YouTube is one thing, but clicking around, joining Integra Forums… that’s a level of commitment I can’t relate to
In fairness no, it's not something I see too often. I've been around to enough forums to understand it does happen though, and there does happen to be a few interesting characters that have been known to frequent the civicxi forum, so as others have suggested it wasn't much of a stretch to assume troll.

You've walked back your initial post enough... but also I'm gonna be that guy and point you to the search feature. Many topics covered since your initial post have been discussed at length and have their own dedicated threads, so it's not just me being a dick- there's lots of existing content but it does take some time to search and review it.

Other than that, this is a very friendly forum. I even have my days where I veer into positive contribution territory.

I'm on another generic car forum (The Car Lounge) and a guy traded his ITS for a Golf R. You can read through this thread but he's certainly had issues. I had an '05 Jetta GLI and a '20 Audi S4. Same story. I like how Euro cars drive but they're certainly more maintenance intensive than Japanese or domestic counterparts.

It’s a lot of car and a lot of quality and a lot of reliability for $50k. I’ve had cars multiple times more expensive and still own some and the ITS is legit.

That said, if you want to be cool and pull the chicks, get a 330i or CLA250. They will swoon over the badge and think you’re rich. 😂😂

I mean thank you? I guess? I’m not gonna walk back anything though. I’m not gonna apologize for a sincere post that you then passed through your personal perception filter at 2:30am.
