I've always liked to change the oil after 1k from new, like a break in period oil change, and then every 5k after that.
We always use Amsoil synthetic and it sems to have worked great at those intervals as we never seem to have any issues related to oil changes and or the engines, I plan to follow the same logic with the Type S.
My two current daily's both have high miles now, my truck (2000 Silverado 2500) is at 245k and my 2007 350Z is at 180k both run great.

Wondering what my plan of attack should be. I don't expect to put more than 5-6k a year on the ITS.

Don't plan on tracking the car but do intend to drive the car spiritedly here and there.

I am thinking every 5k or once a year, whichever one comes first.

That is exactly my situation and intention.

Just sent my second oil sample off & switched to 5w30. Spoon magnetic plug either picked a little bit up or a little factory moly came out with it.

I run the same drain plug in my S2000 - That looks pretty normal. But was the black stuff smooth or gritty when rubbed between your fingers? Smooth is fine, gritty not so good. Looking forward to seeing the lab report.

It was smooth actually! I expected it to maybe have a little grit to it, but it all rubbed off smooth. Probably can’t tell very well here:

I’m guessing I’ll go 4-5k I don’t daily the car and with breaking in the motor figured couldn’t hurt.

sounds good. I am in the same boat. I expect to put only about 5k/yr on the car. I figured I'll just replace the oil annually.

You can always not reset the maint minder when performing your own oil change and get every other one covered by Acura.
That’s what I’m doing now. The odd thing for me is that I changed my oil at about 2500 miles, now I’m at 4100 miles and I’m at 20% already. I feel like that’s pretty low oil life. Most people I see are going like 7-8k before they hit 15% oil life. I often check my oil and I’m not losing any or have any leaks so I don’t know why it’s so low already. I don’t abuse the car that bad. Always let it get to temps and always let it cool down for a few miles after a rip. 80% of my driving is just normal daily driving.

Did you reset the counter?

Nope, was just going to do every other one myself and not reset and get the dealer one free. I’m just so surprised I’m at 20% at 4,100 miles.
Yep- that seems off. I changed mine at 5k, didn’t reset, and now I’m at 15% with 9700 miles.
