No! LOL. ok, probably would mod it!

I totally planned to keep the car stock. So far only springs, sway bar, wheels, tires, center console, shift knob, front PPF, tint, and I have a Spoiler coming. So not too much. Oh, added the JB4 for a quick 30+ HP and Tq. Basically a Mild plug and play tune that shouldn't cause any issues.

I agree, when you start replacing lots of parts, that's when you start having issues, CELs, limp mode, air leaks, etc. etc. I'm just happy the exhaust is somewhat interesting so I don't feel the need to mod further.

I watched Johnathan's video and want to hit the jailbreak tour while they are in GA.

I am also interested in the Phearable stage 2 tune.

My question is, do I need to pay for Hondata and then Phearable or can I save some money packaging this stuff together? I understand they are two different companies, but do I need to do the former before the latter?

I just had a call with my boss (who is also a big motorhead). I brought up the tuning and he said he had an almost new M3 that he tuned and blew things up. He mentioned one problem after another before he was able to get the car stable. I know these are two totally different cars and I have not seen anyone post about issues after a tune. How safe is it if I'm not swapping any parts out for the time being? Additional info: I'm also tracking the car.
Traditionally you wouldn't save money packaging because the expenses are the same whether you purchase through Hondata and then go to Phearable for the OTS map or if you buy all through Phearable. The expenses are as follows:

Flashpro Mini - $795
Jailbreak/Unlock - $250
Phearable Map - $249

The difference with the Hondata Jailbreak Tour is they are offering 20% off if you pre-purchase a ticket here. If this is something you plan to do anyway, it's hard to turn down 20% off or ~$209. If you intend to track the car, I suggest skipping the Phearable Stage 2 OTS map and just get a custom calibration (e-tune or dyno tune) from your tuner of choice. Good luck and maybe I'll see you at the GA event.

I appreciate the heads-up on the pre-purchase. I pulled the trigger and will be in Woodstock on the 20th.

Since I try to be a good husband and discuss purchases with the wife, I ran it by her first. She just asked where it ends. Not an easy question since the answer is probably never.

I think I will hold off on the Phearable stage 2 for now and see how I like the Hondata tune by itself. I think risk is low if I'm not asking a lot more than what the car was designed to do. Maybe when I get around to intakes and downpipes I'll think about tuning again to take advantage of the added parts.

The Hondata tune by itself will improve throttle response, rev hang and torque issues in 1st and 2nd if I understand correctly.

lol have the same talks with my wife. She gave me the ā€œokā€ for the tune. So Iā€™ll be at the austin event. It really couldnā€™t be more perfect. The only question is are more
Pops and bangs or leave it same?

May as well make the car sound more aggressive while changing the stock tune. If I understand from the videos, you can back off the more aggressive pops if you don't like them.

Honesty is the best policy with respect to your significant other and this car culture/obsession. I got beyond the, "Just one last car, I swear!" many cars ago. My wife now operates with the understanding that we (primarily me) will be rotating cars in and out until we're not. It's just easier that way. And she's generally good with it so long as she doesn't need to get involved (i.e., switching insurance, putting on new plates, moving things from old car to new car, programming Homelink, etc.).

As for the OTS map, I think that's a solid approach. Wait to see how you like the Hondata Basemap and go from there. It's not like you're saving money buying the Phearable or any other OTS map now instead of later anyway. FYI - I wouldn't expect a lot from the Hondata Base Map. It will be a slight to moderate bump over stock. The greatest and most impactful delta will be between Hondata Basemap and a custom tuned calibration even with zero hardware. You're getting the exhaust bits for sound more than anything as the car will be plenty quick tuned sans hardware. Anyhow, since everyone takes this in differently, curious to hear what you think about the difference once you get the map loaded to the car.

This is actually a great idea and pretty affordable for peace of mind if nothing else.
Found for $249 here: Genuine OEM Acura - Control Module Powertrain Part# 37820-6PV-A03 | Acura Parts For Less

I assume you cannot just buy a spare ECU and send it straight to get jailbroken? You'll need clone your existing ECU first or it won't work in your car?

Even a cloned ECU (jailbroken or not) would still need to go to the dealer to get paired with your car?
Just got an email from Acura Parts for Less that the ECUā€™s are on back order with no ETA. :-/

So, the five step option via the cruise control is only available with the Phearable tune? Hondata doesn't offer anything like that? It just affects every setting with no option to change on the fly?

Curious for the ones that have been to the other jailbreak events.
if you purchase the in advance ticket that is just for the 20% off and does NOT guarantee a spot???
I assume first come first serve? were there people that they didnt get to at other events?
I am looking at a good 4-5 hour drive to the Georgia one and not looking to make the drive if I have to wait in line all day just to be the next one in line when they close shop..

I flashed mine with Hondata for a couple of days and then flashed it with Phearable tune after that. My car was stocked at that time. I could feel the difference with Hondata, but honestly the Phearable tune was way better and more aggressive. The car felt alive after the tune. Third and fourth gear were much faster and a lot more enjoyable. The only downside is the wheel spin and torque steer were much more evident, especially on race 1 and race 2 settings.

This post got me thinking about how many cars I have purchased recently. Just since 2016, I have bought six cars (not counting cars for wife or kids). I get the ole, "why are you buying another car? What's wrong with your current car?" every time. It is a sickness. I could have worse expenditures like hard drugs, I guess.

I'm also going to the Woodstock event, but I live a little over an hour away. I plan on leaving first thing in the morning. From the videos I have seen, there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of people at these events. There is a good chance no one is left out. Perhaps a call to Hondata would answer the question. Let us know.

Iā€™m 1.5hrs away and will not be jailbreaking but I may visit some friends in that area. If I do that Iā€™ll drop by to see some FL5/DE5 people.
