Hi,

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a type S this week. Being in the Austin TX area, so hard to find dealerships not adding a market adjustment. Two weeks ago, I almost purchased one out of state, but with the holidays, just put it off.

The Texas dealers were asking $5K over msrp. In the last couple of days, I've gotten a couple of calls from the same dealers willing to sell at msrp. Just curious are others are having the same luck?

Thanks :)

There are 2 very useful threads to find one at MSRP on this forum. Tons MSRP ITS dealers out there. There are currently 2-3 at MSRP in St Louis where most have sold to out of state buyers. 1 black/red & 2 white/red. 2 at St Louis Acura & 1 at Leta Acura. If you end up buying please let them know if referred you. 😁

I did in South Florida. (53K out the door so you can technically say that I got it for under MSRP)
This was in the Miami market, when the ITS was just released. So definitely don't pay over MSRP.

I just bought from Acura of North Austin in November with an $1800 required package (tint, wheel locks, floor mats and trunk tray, paint protection). The South Austin (Sterling) Acura location was trying to do a $3500 markup on top of a $2500 package.

It is about to be end of month and end of year. Tell a dealer $2k off MSRP (or pick a number) and close by 12/31/2023. Of course you have to have the finances in place to do it. I bet a few dealers will play. They are trying to hit their numbers. Show no mercy.

Not exactly to your point, but I was just a local (Northern VA) Honda dealer this morning, and they have a CTR on the floor with a $15k ADM. The person I spoke with said they have only sold two so far, both around $70k. It is nuts.

Surprisingly I bought a LS color at msrp from a Chicago dealer that was asking $5K over with $2.5K in bullshit forced accessory stuff. Can’t say which dealer but on the SW side of town.

I stood my position of msrp, no forced options or extravagant fees thru multiple calls & emails. I left it; you have my offer and contact, let me know if you change your mind in a month or so. They call me the next day saying they accepted my offer.

Probably helped it was LS color, been in their inventory for 2 months and it was during the holidays.

You still have a few days before the end of the month….

That is the trend, many started off with mark ups and have now dropped them, by the way this is the absolute best time to buy a car new or used as the market is wonky and it is last quarter, final week, if you can buy this week, you can probably find a good deal.
However, on the ITS, unlike many other models they aren't sitting on lots waiting for buyers, at least not around here, so the deal to look for is simply MSRP.
I have three dealers willing to sell at sticker here in CT, I am 12 weeks away from buying mine.

Based on all the incentives I'm seeing for Hondas and some lower prices on existing Acura models I think the market is starting to cool off.

MSRP and no-addons should be quite doable. I bought mine at flat MSRP and only had one added fee, which was a ridiculous (IMO) $559 doc fee. This was back in September of this year, 52595 + their 559 doc fee was 53154 before tax/title/license.

I didn't fall for the "pro pack" BS or other stuff that all the dealers push. If a dealer pushed this I simply said I was no longer willing to leave a deposit and that the addons and packages weren't a good fit for me. Some of them would counter and say "no problem, we can remove that" others would say it was mandatory to have accessories and I would just move on at that point. Be polite but be direct and they won't waste your time, if they can't or won't make the deal they'll say so. Most of them don't have a good answer if you simply say "I don't like any of the addons." At that point this kind of forces them to admit they're just bilking extra money out of the customer, so they can either remove that demand or they'll say they have to put something on the car. At which point you have your answer.

My car came with the stock carpet mats, all season mats, trunk/hatch liner, and rock guards. Since I didn't opt for their "pro pack" they were new in the boxes in the hatch when I picked up the car. The floor mat install is self explanatory, 2 minutes of your time. The rock guard installs were also dead simple, no drilling required and took 30 minutes and a low profile 1/4 drive ratchet with a phillips bit.

I generally detest dealers and most of them will, if given the chance, always mess something up 10 out of 10 times. And I'm extremely picky. If you're like this, use it to your advantage and ask that they do no finish prep, no interior detail, leave the plastic wrap on. Basically don't touch the car, call me when its there, I'll come over and get it. Don't kiss my butt and tell me how great I am, get me out of there quickly and lets all get our time back. Some dealers will bite due to their lower overhead of not having to "prep" the car to a standard that only makes me refuse the sale anyway. But that's just me and I admit, I'm not a good fit for all the dealers. ;)

All this to say, at this stage I'd be aiming for a few $k under MSRP. Especially if you can get an existing one already in dealership stock within the next week or so.
