Thanks, Superman, for the info. I do have a lifted Jeep Wrangler just in case of an apocalypse like the Walking Dead since we live in the DC area.

Under what temperature would you not take it out? Below 40?

PS: I spoke with the dealer. They will charge for a brand new set of winter tires. So I will just keep the OEM ones and get a set of winter tires later.

Many years ago Michelin put out language on this topic that tires with more aggressive compounds should not be used in tempuratutes "at or near freezing". I believe that language is no longer used by Michelin. The general rule of thumb is tempuratures below 40°F.

What would you recommend for the winter tires? FYI, I will not be driving this baby in a wintry or snowy condition.

I use a MK8 GTI as my winter car with a set of GLI 35th anniversary wheels. I tried out a set of the Vredestein Wintrac Pros and they’re very good at a reasonable price from TireRack.

Winter tires stay soft and pliable at freezing temps while also having optimal tread for wet or frozen terrain. Summers tires will stay hard and brittle during freezing temps and are prone to crack at temps under 40F degrees.

All-Seasons are middle of the road at everything and while there are some decent ones out there, they’re not great at anything.

If having dedicated winter tires aren't for you, do some research into "all weather" tires. They are a different category of tire than "all season" and are designed to work in a wider range of conditions. They won't be as good as a dedicated set of winters if conditions are extremely poor, but they'll be much better all-around in different temperatures (warm and cold) and may split the difference if temperatures fluctuate outside of the optimal range for your summers.

Hi folks, I have pulled the trigger and bought myself a black Integra S with red interior. The car is at the dealer now for them to finish installing accessories and do the ceramic coating. Yay!!! But just as a preview, here it is. I will share more photos if and whenI can get the ambient lighting done.

I am looking for an auto shop in the DMV area to do the following:

1. Ambient lighting. Change the ambient light to red and possibly add ambient light around the trim of the dashboard and the footwells. I somehow have an image of the battle scene from The Hunt for Red October in my head when I sat in the ITS.

2. Dashcam. I know this may be easy enough to DIY. But I would like to install a dash cam that can work while I am away from the car. I rather have a professional for this since I need the ambient lighting to be done professionally anyway.

3. Window Tinting

Let me know a reliable and top notch auto shop that you would recommend. Thanks.

I think I would pass on the ambient lighting. I wouldn't want to risk messing anything up in the interior. Although, I rarely drive at night so I wouldn't get to enjoy better ambient lighting anyway. Would be cool if we had more options though.
