I purchased the Power tailgate kit from Mikstore and got my mechanic to install it and I would NOT recommend buying and installing the kit. I purchased the FL5 hatchback kit from here: https://mikstoreph.com/products/honda-power-tailgate-kit?_pos=2&_sid=2fc043c66&_ss=r

It ended up being very expensive to install and not very useful. Here are the issues that came up.

1. I should have checked this in the pictures but there is no place to put the trunk release button in the Integra. In the civic, there are several blank buttons to the left. (see screenshot of the instructions). In the Integra, there isn't as many blank spaces and the button that is included in the package means you have to either choose traction control or the trunk release button. I may try to rip apart the buttons to rewire them in the future but the button that they sent me is not compatible with the Integra interior

2. The remote button on the key fob doesn't actually pop the trunk. This was the whole point of the kit and my mechanic couldn't figure out why the trunk button still didn't pop open the trunk. The key fob DOES unlock the trunk but I still have to manually press the release button for the trunk to pop open. Thanks to AcuraX, I was able to use the key fob to open the trunk. If you press the key fob three times in a row (hearing the car unlock each time), then the trunk will open. Additionally, if you press the unlock button inside the car three times in a row, the trunk will open. If you again press the unlock button three times, the trunk will close automatically.

3. The angle that the trunk opens is really steep. My spoiler is less than an inch away from touching the ceiling of my garage. Because the kit was made for the Civic hatchback and I'm guessing that the civic trunk has a steeper angle than the Integras, it opens up way more than necessary. Supposedly the kit comes with a height adjustment but I couldn't get it to work. It pauses at the position I want it to stop and then keeps going to its full range afterwards.

Overall, this was a pretty big waste of money and time. The kit sort of works but not really. The only thing I gained was that when I press the trunk release button, it powers up and when I press the close trunk button, it comes down under power. But I really wanted the trunk button on the key to work and that doesn't seem to work.
After figuring out how to use the remote, I would give this mod a 7 out of 10. Its still not seamless but it definitely gets the job done when you're hands are full. Just be prepared for the kit to not be as seamless as the folding mirror mod.

Hopefully Acura makes an Integra specific kit and I can rip this one out and retrofit that kit once it comes out.

Your pictures of why you can only have one button at a time don't really convey why that is the case. There's a switch hole with a cover in each picture. I would expect that is where the power tailgate switch would be installed. That said, the FL5 installation directions mention pressing the central unlock button 3 times if there is no front button installed. In either case, I wonder if a power tailgate button from another Honda/Acura would allow you to have both buttons.

I presume you already checked this, but in the troubleshooting for original car key function failure, it says to make sure the yellow wire is connected to the key unlock signal wire and to ensure the OBD and protocol lines are connected properly.

Thanks acurax! Pressing the unlock button 3 times worked. So that makes this mod 100 times better.

I'll have to take a picture later but the button that they gave me would completely replace the traction control button. I might take the button apart and try to integrate it with what's already in the Integra later but as of now, its not a plug and play.

might be worth mentioning the three button press in the main post note for future Googlers. Glad that works at least, and thanks for posting about this!!!

For anyone curious, I took some pictures of the button that was included in the package.

If it's only use one of the two buttons I'm sure you could find one that fits our bezel and swap the pins over to the other style connector.

Yup! That's what I was thinking of doing if I have some time. Although pressing unlock 3 times to open and close the trunk works so I might just leave it for now.

Still a pretty cool mod and thank you for showing us how it came out. I’m still very annoyed how every time I pick someone up and they want to put something in the trunk I have to poke my head out the window and tell them you have the manually lift it up. lol

I like yelling at people, so I'll be skipping this mod
