Hey all,

I haven't seen one of these threads on this forum so thought I would start it up.

We’ve decided to kick off the official wheel fitment thread for the DE5 Chassis.

This will be the go-to place for discussing both OEM and (especially) aftermarket wheel fitments.

In this thread, we’ll cover topics like wheel diameter, width, offsets, tire sizes, and more. Feel free to share your discoveries and, of course, photos!

We will start with some of our customers.

Volk Racing ZE40 M-Spec (LMTLS Spec)
Wheel Size: 18x10.0 +40 5x120

It would help if you listed out full suspension details too- those are some pretty aggressive specs, people might want to know what other types of considerations they may need to take; e.g., added camber from springs, etc.

edit- the bronze ZE40s are 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have read quite a bit about the dual axis front suspension on the S, and it's a very interesting bit of engineering, bringing a little of the dual wishbone to the strut suspension. In reading about it, it seems clear that the factory wheel offset of +60 is important in maintaining the geometry that results in the car's handling qualities. As with most performance cars, there is a component of buyers that will always seek the big drop and low offset wheels. And that's fine if your priority is that look. But I'm wondering if many folks who are maybe more technically focused on the car's suspension, have tried low offset wheels, and what results they experienced?

For what it’s worth, the yellow HRC prototype car is running 19x9.5 +45, so Acura thinks it’s fine to run a somewhat lower offset in exchange for wider track width.

It's always tempting to carry over certain aspects of a track prepped car to its street counterpart, but it's rarely valid. There are just too many design changes, and wheel offset is only one.

Sure, but AFAIK there’s no suspension components on there other than coilovers, so the suspension geometry probably hasn’t changed much from the stock car.

did anybody run this set up, 275/35/19 on 19x9.5 +36 or something similar with a drop?

I wouldn't consider the HRC car track prepped at all. As someone mentioned, it's a parts showcase car.

That said, whoever designed that car probably put a priority of aesthetics over subtle driving dynamics.

I've had +45 wheels on my car for a while. It makes a difference but nothing I'd consider show-stopping. Especially now that I've swapped back to the OEM +60 wheels for the winter, I think it's fair to say it wouldn't be noticeable by many people.

I didn’t notice anything negative. Less dive and squat, less body roll, etc.

They launch SUMMER 2025, already in discussion with Advan to make a 18x10 +40
Version
What on earth is wrong with 19x9.5 +45?? That's the true "god spec" for these cars IMHO.

18s just don't look as good on this car as they do on the FL5. Not sure exactly what it is, but I can notice instantly when a DE5 has 18s on it. An FL5 not so much. Don't get me wrong, 18s don't look horrible on a DE5, but it just inarguably doesn't look as good...

I agree. 19s looks so much better on the DE5s and 18s on FL5s IMO.
