Phone Charger always stops working

I was super happy the car had this wireless charger. But it is so bad that it is useless...

I too use a wire to charge now.

Related, is there any way to turn off wireless AA/Carplay? My Android Auto constantly drops and reconnects but it's a huge hassle while waiting for it. I'm thinking a wired connection will be more stable.

Odd that yours drop, my AA been pretty stable and haven't had any drop issue. But to answer your question, I think there is an option in Developer Settings in the AA where you uncheck "Wireless Android Auto"
