Ive asked in other forums and haven't gotten any help. I drive a 2004 Acura EL 1.7L. It has about 94K miles. When driving the RPM rises to 4 or 5 even though I'm not changing speeds. I would appreciate anyone who could assist me in figuring out what may be causing this. Thank you!

Other possibilities may be Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) or failing Throttle Position Sensor. I've had this issue with a MAF.

Might be a dirty idle air control valve. Clean it out with some carb cleaner

I’d say clean out your throttle body with throttle body cleaner. There’s a bunch of YouTube videos on how to do this. Just make sure you use a cloth since a paper towel might rip. It’s pretty simple and inexpensive.

I’m willing to bet it’ll do the trick. Please report back!
