I'm curious as to what people prefer in terms of brand of tint, they find the best. I've gotten tint on all my cars, and it's always been LLumar formula one pinnacle ceramic tint. The place I am taking my care to for paint correction and ceramic coating only offers Suntek. I know other brands like Huper Optik have been catering to the high-end vehicles and I don't know if it's really worth it. I also understand part of the process is the dealer as well. I've had really good luck with Rocky Mountain Window tint here in Livermore. It's nice to have everything done at one place but I'm not sure if it's worth it to go to separate places if there isn't a noticeable difference.

I've used 3M Crystalline in the past due to its high solar/heat rejection properties. it's great on the windshield, as the crystalline 70 isnt dark, but offers nearly as much heat rejection as darker tint. There are not too many 3M installers. I've had 2 cars tinted at Quality Auto Glass and Tint in Santa Clara and have been pretty happy with them.

Anyone doing PPF? I have a price on bumper for about $500. If I had hood and fenders its $1600 or so.
I have had my car for just over a year and most of the damage is on the front bumper and headlights.

For a hood, fenders, front bumper and mirrors it was a 2500 quote in the bay area. :(

I wouldn't want to cheap out on the PPF installer sadly, too many horror stories and friends with bad experiences.... And $2500 is sadly the going rate I got from 2 reputable shops.

I like 3M Ceramic IR tint, it doesn't quite have the heat rejection of Crystalline, but it's much cheaper and I prefer the ceramic coloring (grey, Crystalline tends to run a little brown). I used PWT in San Lorenzo, quality was solid and price quite a bit cheaper than the other Ceramic installers. I am doing windshield this time, so might spring for Crystalline there since I am only doing 70%.

I agree. Fortunately the guy I go to has been doing tint for 20+ years. I have suntek ceramic and no issues. Previous car had suntek for almost 10 years without issues.

honestly on a $50k car I might skip it, or do bumper + partial fender/ hood

on my BMWs I'm more inclined to do it, as at $100k ish the % extra for PPF is more reasonable—also more likely to actually save you money due to paint condition in the long run, as cosmetic damage will take off more hard $ in value than on a cheaper car

Honestly I don't think PPF ever really pays for itself, as you could always get a respray for about the same price I like it because it's self healing, so that's 1/3 of the car you don't have to worry about polishing out regularly and it will look great your entire time of ownership. So it's one of those, enjoy the journey, not the destination type things.

To piggyback a bit, anyone have any Honda shops in the area they trust or recommend? I usually do all my own work, but after spending all weekend getting my current car back to stock, not sure I have the time to keep it up... And no way am I installing those Spoon rigid collars myself.
