To play devil's advocate here, I recently saw someone who's track day was ruined (hundreds of dollars gone and a day wasted) by a failed OEM expansion tank. No doubt that Honda/Acura should "fix it for good" - but sometimes it makes more sense to take care of things yourself.

This is why we carry spares when we go to the track for all common things... Abs sensors, rotors, pads, coolant, oil, etc. No car is perfect when you really start pushing it, even Porsche cars (which are much more reliable when pushed than most other vehicles).

This doesn't sound like people are replacing it for track use though... Just "I expect it to fail" which seems like a big shame. It's like water pumps on the VWs. We need a class action if they're really this fragile.

Or you might ruin your engine from loosing too much coolant...

Or you might have to wait for weeks because the part is B/O...

Thought it was easier to just fix it and be sure it won't leak in the future.

I'm kinda with @Victorofhavoc on this. I don't fully understand why people just assume the part will fail, WITHOUT some sort of class-action if it's been happening since the FK8.

Since the car is already in production it may be cheaper for Honda to keep replacing them rather than issue a recall would be my guess

That's why I grabbed a spare OEM replacement. It was cheaper than aftermarket. If it happens at the track, I have the tools, coolant, and the spare tank ready to roll.

This is the way.

We're talking a coolant overflow tank, too... Not the water pump or radiator itself. Even if it leaks you'll likely get a drip for a long time from evaporative and some push loss near the seam before you have enough coolant loss to pose a problem. This is the highest point of the coolant system, and the normal purge is only an inch or so above the seam.

I find it pretty funny as a "performance car" this car doesn't have an oil temp gauge, a legitimate coolant temp gauge, nor a coolant level sensor. Ignorance = reliability... Just send it until it pops and then sell it ?

I've done all of this over the last couple of months, but figured Id get caught up. Im not usually one for the murdered out look, but it just looks so good on this car. The pictures of the lights are taken with the sun directly at my back, so you can see how visible the lights still are during the day, and will be at night.

Still breaking it in. Has less than 90 miles so far. But I wanted to hear those pops and bangs so bad. So I put her in sport plus and rev’d to about 3k rpm ?
