With very little hard evidence, there seem to be a lot of predictions that the 5G Integra will fail against its competitors. I suppose, though that I can turn it around regarding what we actually KNOW about the platforms that the 5G and its competitors ride on. The Integra will have far better interior space efficiency, will crash better, etc. These things may not matter to self-proclaimed “enthusiasts” but are important for living with the car for the long term. Give me a nice handling FWD hatch with 250+ HP, a slight upgrade in features over a Civic sport touring and I’m good. Back to the circle jerking.
So, admitting a 252hp car would not compete in its class is Anti-Acura? LOL sorry i wasnt aware I was supposed to just blindly love everything Acura makes and ignore reality.

If Acura is only targeting the GTI/GLI crowd, then yea 252hp may do fine. But the rest in the entry level Luxury market it will be seen as the cheap, slow option. Thats NOT the appearance you want of a "performance" trim of your entry luxury brand. There is a large difference in being lower cost and less performant, versus slow and cheap. If the Type-S is even just the 272HP 2.0T they can make the argument that is handling is based on the Type-R and it handles AMAZING vs the competition in corners. If they use 252hp, no level of handling ability will even make the car competitive in the market and every review team will thrash on it, and possibly even some will say to just save money and get the Si or Accord.

Sounds like a circle jerk(er) to me!

Tbh I’m perfectly fine with 250hp, mid $30K Integra. It’s the Type S badge that I have problem with. It needs to offer something that other cars in the price range don’t.

I think Acura’s trying too hard to avoid getting direct competitors.
But then people will be comparing it to all the indirect competitors anyway lol

I just want to see more clues drop for now

Well as the A Spec will be 33-34k, there is no way you'll get a engine upgrade too for under 38K.

At $38-42K, an Integra with an upgraded engine would be an excellent bargain!

Thats always been the range predicted for the Type-S. But that price range with just 250hp would NOT be seen as a bargain.

Agreed with this. For that you might as well buy an A-Spec TLX that has the more HP.

What evidence is there that the car would have a 250 hp version?

Given what Audi, BMW, and MB charge for their FWD-based garbage, yes it would! Fo example:
http://www.audiusa.com/A5TFRUU4
The base Integra is supposed to compete with the base A3, 2er GC and MB A. The Type S goes against the S3, 2er GC M235i and what use to be the A35 AMG

After you started talking about what your sources have said and what you have a feeling about…?
Yeah because they have been correct on both the MDX and TLX so I trust them when it comes to the info.

Why go base (the linked configuration is a mid tier FWD A3 without everything possible added) German when you can have a Type S for the same or less money?
