My wish is for a lower spec'ed 2L engine that makes in the range of 250 hp. Add in a nice auto of some sort, and keep the price down. I don't want an Integra that's R model competition, with a similar $40k price.

At that power level it will NOT compete in the market. Sales for it will suck. All its competition has AWD options and 290+HP. If it makes 250 range even the Accord will end up eating its sales.

I still feel it’ll be the 272 HP with 10 AT and FWD. I’m really hoping for SH-AWD. I’m being really patient with this whole thing but it sucks how long they are dragging the full reveal out.

I'm not so sure. The Mazda 3 Turbo and GTI are 250hp. The Accord is a much larger car. Guess it depends on price too. If Honda pushes the price up to $40k they will need more HP, but then they won't get any sales anyway. My hope is for a nice running 2L turbo with a reasonable $35k price tag.

35k will get you a optioned A Spec, not a engine upgrade too. The Accord is about 10in longer, but the weight is about the same. If they go to 252hp, sales will go to the GTI, Golf R, S4 instead.

I don’t think that you’re right about the competition, but whatever…I see the base engine Integra A spec competing with things like the A3, 228i GC, etc. Against those $35,000 for the Integra will be a hell of a bargain.

Look at the options on the cars. Those are inline with the pricing expected for the Integra A-Spec. 33-34K. A Type S would mean A-Spec + the performance upgrades. So your looking at 39-41k.

The Base integra is a deal, with less standard features, vs the A4, 228, the A-Spec is a good competitor for them while being 1-2K cheaper. Add in the 2.0T and your going to be near 40K where the competition is 43-45, and has AWD. The Integra DOESNT have AWD. So it needs to compete in Power to stay bang for buck relevant in the segment.

And the people that are in THAT segment ARE looking at power. What do you think they will buy? The 300HP AWD car for 45k, the 300HP AWD car for 45k, or the 252hp FWD car for 38-40? The Integra would be look at as a JOKE in the segment with 252hp. The people with the money will get the German cars, and if they don't the GTi, GLI and Golf-R will eat Integra sales, and yes, so will Accord.

The Integra needs to offer something to get sales, if the Type-S is just 252hp there is NOTHING about it that sets it apart in its segment. At least the base model has that it's going to be a well handing car with a manual which is rare in its segment.

If they don't use ATLEAST the 272HP 2.0T the Type-S is going to be a total joke.

I could be wrong but it’s HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the Type S will come with the Accord’s version. I have one of those now. When was the last time that an Acura came with a non-premium fuel version?

Agree with you here pretty much every point.

I’m still pretty concerned with how they are laying this car out. I really think it’s already a failure to not offer AWD on the base due to its competition all having that and the likely case of no real increase in power from
The Si.

The Type S has to have the TLX 2.0 or the Type R 2.0 for sure, even giving a lowball price of 38k, without AWD it just doesn’t fight it’s competition. And if does get AWD it definitely will need more power since Acuras are so heavy.

Wow! This devolved into another Anti-Acura circle jerk! Why am I not surprised by people here?

Who said we are anti Acura?
With very little hard evidence, there seem to be a lot of predictions that the 5G Integra will fail against its competitors. I suppose, though that I can turn it around regarding what we actually KNOW about the platforms that the 5G and its competitors ride on. The Integra will have far better interior space efficiency, will crash better, etc. These things may not matter to self-proclaimed “enthusiasts” but are important for living with the car for the long term. Give me a nice handling FWD hatch with 250+ HP, a slight upgrade in features over a Civic sport touring and I’m good. Back to the circle jerking.

Well to be fair I think most are just having legitimate comparisons to its competition. If we look at it, Acura has really been hush hush on things. Before the reveal they use to tease the Integra like nothing. Now that it’s been 2 months since the Prototype reveal it’s been tight lip so people are realistically getting concerned for a future car they are wanting to get. I still don’t think 250 hp would cut it. I’m and enthusiast as well. I love all types of cars. But when a car company is pushing for performance slogan, I expect somewhat of an actual performance model. If it makes 250 then what’s the point of getting an ITS when you can get the base one with 200 HP or so and put on a Hondata to get to that power level. You get what I mean? Not only that, since the ITS might be only coming as an Automatic you can really enjoy that base Integra with a Manual.
