Out of curiosity, what rattles did you have and was the dealer able to fix? I have a few around my cabin and am deciding if I should let them tear into the trim or just to suck it up.
Thatās not true. It all depends on your dealer. I got my first oil change when I was at 40% oil life left. Didnāt even have to askā¦my service guy offered. I was there for something else. Maybe they just wanted to take a closer look at my mods.
Is this the Cool Springs Dealership by chance? They did have a White Demo a couple of weeks ago.Iāve had a tinny metallic buzzing sound since day 1 under acceleration seemingly from the dash. I was carefully taking apart the glove console to see if it was the heater core and a backup no trim in that area had a screw with a stripped thread so I wasnāt able to remove it without applying force. In doing so, I ended up breaking the led light and not being able to reinstall the trim flushly. At that point I said F this and scheduled an appointment for them to fix everything and take care of the passenger seat belt rattle I get as well on occasion. Fast forward to a day before dropping off the vehicle and there was a massive rainstorm where I drove through uneven terrain. It jostled my car enough to have the led light I was storing in the glove console to fall behind and near the fan/heater core area. The sound from the dash hasnāt been noticeable, and Iām not sure if there was a nut that lodged in the engine compartment that shook free or if the led light fell into an area by the heater core to dampen the sound. Either way, I explained all this to the service rep who will have the tech look into replacing the led and hopefully confirming nothing is missing a nut and rattle areas are shimmed. Just dropped off today and got a loaner, and sadly I believe this is the first Type S this dealer has seen period since they didnāt get a demo so Iām crazy worried the tech is gonna go joyriding and what not. Gary Force Acura is on notice
I think the thing to note here is how when dealerships are charging you for oil changes they put a sticker in your window saying come back in like 3-5K miles, but when it is an initial free service period it's 7,500 miles. Personally I like to identify what I think is the best oil for the car and then I buy that in bulk and provide it to the dealer that will work with me to just charge me the labor portion of an oil change. My last oil change for my Hyundai Veloster N cost me a whopping $28 after I provided my own oil (Pennzoil Platinum fully synthetic). If I pick up an ITS I will probably get the first oil change around 4,000 miles and pay for that myself, then use the free oil changes from the service program down the line.
Yup, sorry wasnāt aware. I was going off of what someone else had mentioned but thinking now that may have been about pre orders not demos. I got my Type S delivered to St. Louis since they didnāt charge $5k markup and only charged $199 for doc fee. I hadnāt been back to Gary Force since I had my RSX, so not sure what their service is like. Just rolling the dice and hoping their service department is fine.
Gotcha, smart. I am also going out of state for that reason. GFA does get good reviews overall though.
That's BS. I mean, they are kinda right, but to not even look at it is BS. I had the rattle on my A-Spec from day 1, brought it in to get it looked at, and they fixed it. 10,000 km later, it popped back up, but I called a few days ago and they're willing to bring it back to re-tighten.
Wait are you talking about Gary Force Acura or just your local dealer. Iām assuming your local Canadian dealer based on the km mention. Canada quality of life is just better. The caucasity at my elite Nashville Acura doesnāt have time to deal with the trifling issues that a minority has in a car they donāt deserve, especially one without a $5k mark up.
Damn. Yeah I was speaking about my local dealer, but actually any of the Acura dealers within 50km of me would probably take a look. That sucks honestly.
Hey, Iām also in Nashville with an ITS. Are you still thinking the buzzing under throttle is normal? Mine has always had a very faint buzzing but now that Iām past the break in and starting to push the car, it gets quite loud at higher RPM. Thinking about taking it in and am hoping Gary Force will actually look into it since we both have that issue.
Hey. I keep hoping itās not normal and can be fixed, but am afraid it may be something we have to live with. Iāve torn the interior apart and know it isnāt loose wiring. I disconnected the nc modulator in case it was feedback from the fake engine noise and not the case. In doing some digging on civic forums, it appears this affects FK8/FL5s too. Some have mentioned a fuel wastegate, but I think it may be the electronic throttle body that Honda uses. The sound only comes when throttle is applied and would make sense if thatās the case. Either way it sucks and ruins the driving experience because it isnāt as faint and really ruins the engine/exhaust note. I can wheat at times over music at normal volumes and hear the most in 2/3rd gear since thatās the gear used most in 40 mph speed limits and the noise at that speed isnāt loud enough to mask it. Less noticeable during hard acceleration but still present. A tattoo gun sound that makes your engine sound that much more like a kazoo and something I have not experienced from any other car manufacturer. I wish it didnāt bug me as much as it does, but for the price of the car I find it hard to swallow. I still havenāt been contacted by Gary to replace the LED and just shot a text to my rep this morning. If you do go take it in, be sure to ask for a ride along up front so you donāt waste your time have the shop foreman gaslight you. I wouldnāt mention what you think it may be and ask him to explain why the car is buzzes under throttle separate from the engine/exhaust note. If you find a solution please share so I donāt end up passing the issue to someone else.
