2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack WB
Good day friends! I am currently debating trading in my 2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Widebody for a 2025 Acura Integra Type S. I love the Challenger, but I feel the Integra is a more practical car, easier to maneuver around, more modding potential, easier to work on, etc. I fear however I might miss the RWD V8 aspect...

Anyone coming from a performance V8 that switched to the Integra? Would love to hear your input.

I test drove one last year prior to buying the Challenger but I think I did not give it a fair chance. I drove it in town with the salesperson next to me and didn't really push it.

Just waiting on what the dealership would offer me for the Scat.

I didn't come from a v8, but I did come from a twin turbo six tuned to 475 WHP. The ITS is a much better driver's car. Light and nimble, easy to tune to 350 whp. I'm within 1 lb/HP of the car I came from, but now have a car that handles, steers, brakes, etc. so much better. More track capable too! Less weight is a big deal.

I had a C6 Manual Corvette and the only thing I can say I miss compared to the Type S was the straight line speed and sound of the vehicle. I like everything else better with the Type S minus the rattles.

I had the pleasure of driving a 2020 Challenger R/T for a week and my conclusion; it is highly depends on what you consider "fun".

If tail out slides, burnouts and 0-60 runs are your jam, don't even bother, you'll hate yourself pretty quickly.

If you love driving twisty roads with an awesome manual, look no further.

For me it's the latter. The R/T felt like a land yacht, where I detested fighting the weight on a sharper highway bend. Always felt to me, having most seat time in 3000lbs or less cars, like it was capable but not keen on turns and while it was fun doing some donuts in an empty parking lot, I couldn't ever see myself owning one, even if I was gift a Demon 170.

I'd probably sell it and buy a few lighter cars but I respect those who love them to bits, to each their own.

Look at your monthly car note right now and add another 50% to it for 72 months.

Remember the guy that wanted to sell his brand new ITS for a Corvette? The thing was you couldn't buy it from him and you had to buy it from the Corvette dealership. He even made a thread on the Type R forums with the same stupid deal.

V8 will be missed...I want from a V8 LS7 to a twin turbo V6. 7K redline of the LS7 :D. 5 years later and I'm fighting the urge for a C8Z...OP if you're V8 fan don't do it...ITS is a great daily driver for what it is...JMHO

I suggest that you do another test drive in the Integra. Tell the salesperson that you need a longer drive and will be driving the car a little harder. I come from a higher HP rear drive background too, but they were sports cars, Porsche 911 and C6 Corvette. The handling dynamics of a front-drive car are different. That said, the front suspension design and LSD in the Type S moderate the front-drive differences considerably. But, near the limit the two platforms handle differently, and it would benefit your decision challenge if you had that experience. If high performance handling dynamics are not in your criteria, you might not find the Integra to be your kind of car.

Things I bet you'd miss,
The immediacy of an NA engine. The its is decent on turbo lag, but it's still there.

Low end torque - its is decent, but turbo threshold is high so it feels gutless at lower speeds and higher gear unless you keep rpm above 3k.

The sound - v8s, no matter how repetitive, still sound good. None of us can argue that a v8 on its worst day is better than any 4cyl on its best. Maybe a few boxer 4 get close, but not close enough.

Thing I bet you won't miss,
The weight into every corner - scat pack tries to hide it, but it's secretly a boat.

The lethargic brake - think of the its brake as your rotation device and the scat pack brake is more about trying to slow down a boat with you paddling your feet.

The steering input - the car follows the hands and the hands follow the eyes. Where you look is where you go, and the its does that (especially with a more aggressive alignment). The scat pack is lethargic on steering input.

If you ask me, I'd have the v8... But not in a dodge... A c7 grandsport vette is the way, or a ct5v bw.

Owned an SRT8 challenger with the 6.1 and to this day I still have moments of regret in getting rid of it years ago. I didn’t jump directly from the SRT to the ITS. SilverRocket hit a lot of great points in his analysis - it depends on what you think is fun. I had a zoomers exhaust on mine and I miss hearing it. That being said, the ITS is so much better IMO on a daily basis. After a little over a year I still sometimes just look into the garage and thank my lucky stars that I’m fortunate to own an ITS. I love driving it.

On the practical note: how much will your insurance premium goes down?

I've seen Challenger on almost every TikTok side-shows, seems like they are either stolen or wrecked alot nowadays :(

Did you try a different cable? I know USB C can be finicky when it come to delivering power, doesn't like certain cables.
