I've only driven a Miata once, but I remember it being very light and more springy. ITS/CTR will be slightly heavier, but not by much. Way lighter than the WRX. The travel is a bit long, but the feel is linear. I come from a BRZ and it is very similar so it didn't take long for me to adjust.

Type S is a lot better and provides more feel.
That's good to know - thanks!
Anyone know if the clutch engagement point is adjustable?

Actually, I was more worried about "rev hang". Drove a Japanese car years ago that was absolutely terrible.

Rev hang is present but not overbearing. I got used to it quickly and it doesn't bother me anymore. If it does become intolerable you have several aftermarket options to make it go away.

My son's Civic Si, however, is unbearable. Almost as bad as my brother's WRX. The ITS is nowhere near this bad.

And yes, the clutch is a frequent target of criticism in the base/A-spec Integra. Not so in the ITS.

The way Honda designed “rev hang” is different from others. Although for seasoned drivers of manual cars may not like it. For newer drivers it’s supposed to be helpful

I've got a feeling that rev-hang behavior is going to seriously suck. Hopefully, it will also turn off along with the "rev-match" disable setting (at least I assume it can be turned off).

Sadly, no.

The rev hang has nothing to do with the rev match. The latter is a convenience feature, described above, which can make the car easier to drive in certain conditions, for certain drivers.

The rev hang is an unfortunate artifact of emissions tuning, I think to prevent excess fuel from dumping into the cylinder and then the exhaust (others may know better). It's been a "feature" of manual Hondas long before they had rev match, and before they had turbos. It's better on the ITS than on the A-Spec manual or the Civic Si, but turning off rev match doesn't help.

Poll: Do you clutch in all the way when shifting gears?

I have not driven manual in about 7-8yrs and got a type s. The clutch feels so light its almost non existent on this car. It is super easy to drive although I have yet to take it in traffic so I cannot comment on that aspect yet.

Can you use a clutch pedal stop?

Still in queue for my Type S, so no direct experience. Drove an A-Spec dealer demo and was disappointed. Compared to my daily driver GTI - the pedal pressure was fine, but take-up engagement point was way too high - to the point it was difficult to drive smoothly. Perhaps that clutch was mis-adjusted, or the car had been abused (doubtful - still new), but am hoping the Type S will be better. Regardless, clutch pressure was not excessive, and the take-up point is something I'll get used to.
I came from two manual gti's so have 9 yrs of muscle memory to contend with. Anyway, i found the point a little high, and it felt weird at first. Just like the shifting felt tight compared to the sloppyness of the gti's. Now that I'm at 500miles, the feeling different is going away. its just like anything really, its slightly different to what you're use to.. at first it may not necessarily seem better, but once you're use to it, you realize its indefinitely better.

Thanks - that's good to know. Having driven manuals for most of my life, I'll also get used to the clutch take up point. That said, I'm more worried about the goofy "rev-hang" problem I've noted in some Japan cars. Others have noted it's not as bad on the Type S versus the A-Spec, but still there.

Versus your previous GTI's, any comment on rev-hang with the Type S??

The Sirimoto damper delete is a really nice addition to the clutch feeling. Way better! More precise engagement point.

i immediately turned off the Rev Matching, but yes there is a little rev hang, but i don't find it a problem. i think the combination of a high bite point and the slight rev hang probably exaggerated the rev hang for you.. or it may have had rev matching turned on...

The VW shifter in my MK7 GTI was terrible and sloppy compared to my other manual cars (Mazda/Honda/even Nissan Z). It was so bad that I traded it in for a DSG and the car was so much better to drive and well faster as well.

Having tuned my FL5, getting rid of rev hang made it so much more enjoyable driving in the higher RPMs, right now you can work around it on the DE5, but without it, the car would be even more enjoyable.

Just to chime in. I've had the following in order:

- 2002 Acura 1.7EL ( D17 engine )
- 2002 Acura 1.7EL with K20A swap
- 2007 Civic (R18 engine)
- 2024 ITS

K20A was the heaviest. R18 had the lightest and worst feel in general. I honestly don't remember the feel of the D17 now. But what made both the D17 and R18 annoying was not enough power at the low end so had to be more precise about getting going, except there was so little feel in R18 that you really didn't know where the engagement point was.

K20A was a huge improvement in feel but was pretty heavy for a stock clutch. It was pretty easy to operate but painful in stop and go traffic.

Now to ITS...this is by far the easiest manual to drive daily. There's a good balance between a clutch pedal that's not heavy but not light and it's easy to get used to the engagement point but it's not immediately obvious. I'd say the engagement point is more muscle memory after the first 3000km. It's got plenty of torque that getting going is not finicky like in R18/D17. I keep the rev match because it makes daily driving very easy. I'd turn it off on the track where it's much easier to heel toe from experience with the K20A.

I don't notice the rev hang much. Once in a while it comes up when I shift too much but this is mostly in higher gears which you are less likely to be constantly rowing through anyway.

My friend in Evo X said that my shifts are really smooth in this car, in sport+. I know it's much smoother compared to the K20A.
