I have 1,350 miles on my ITS. The computer is showing 70% oil life. I didn't notice when it changed to 70%, so it could be 70% or closer to 60%. Using the mid range of 65%, an oil change reminder could be predicted at around 4,000 miles. How does this compare with other owners' experiences?

When did you purchase? / do you know approx. build date? It considers time as well as mileage.

I would assume time is the major factor here.
I would be curious to know how the software treats the time variable. The car has been in service 4 months. I wouldn't think that should be a very compelling factor.

I can't tell you how it works for certain, but it could be using the build date (Oct '24) or the dealer delivery date (~ Dec '24). I wouldn't be surprised if Acura wants you to take your car in for an oil change once / year or once / 10k miles, and if we go by once / year, your approx. on track for that.

I won't go 10K without changing the oil and filter. I'll either do it myself or pay the shop and use the free oil change when the computer reminds. I just won't reset it with the first change.

Yeah, I'm not recommending you go by the meter. Just sharing my understanding of how it works based on personal experience, other threads here, and what the mfg.s typically recommend. I haven't used any of the "free" services.

As an absolute. I only did 6k miles and a year after I rolled of the lot I was at 0. I just changes the oil before storage, I did max 100 miles after the oil change, I expect to fire it up and see it at roughly 70% oil life.

Your driving style, length of each ride, outside temperature, which temperature the motor reach each ride, etc... are all taken into account.

When I did a lot of miles (trip) all at once, the oil meter was really slow to decrease the %. But since I do small errands and my wife goes to work with the car (not far away), the oil meter decrease way faster.

Pretty sure it also takes into account the time.

For sure it accounts for time as well.. My maintenance minder hit 15% around my 1-year mark when I probably put 2k miles on the car.

Yes, and I'm not surprised at its reading. I don't drive it a lot of miles, but the portion of the miles driven hard is very high. I don't do track stuff anymore, sold the car and quit. I guess I take out my frustration on this car. I don't abuse it, but I'm sure that it's burning through gas, tires and brakes at a considerably higher than average rate.

I don’t think at 4,000 miles. I am at 4,100 miles on mine and my oil thing still says 50% and I got my car brand new. I did do 2 oil changes already one at 1,000 miles and one at 3,000 miles. But I didn’t reset the oil indicator that way when the light turns on I get to take it to the dealership and get it done for free. Making it 3 oil changes in the first 6,000 miles hopefully.

This is exactly the way to do it. What what I am doing.

I swear the estimate defaults to 60%. I don't pay that much attention to it honestly- but a large part of that is I swear I got my oil changed like in October, and it's already at 60%. I've had two oil changes so far, and at 10k miles.

I'll just change it when I feel like it- probably seasonally if I manage to make it to the track. The calculus of the "% left" meter doesn't make sense to me.
