So if they have to remove the steering rack.. any mods worth doing while that out 😆

Best steering rack mod is a one piece rack. You lose adjustment fore and aft, but it feels tremendously more direct and there's zero chance some bushings in a joint would wear and cause slop.

I doubt anyone makes a solid rack for this car, though, and losing the adjustability is a turnoff for a lot of people.

Glad I put off installing rigid collars🤣
They have to remove subframe to pull steering rack and how much you bet they would throw them out.
technically they are a one time use just like crush washers so if you remove the subframe you would need new collars anyway.

My thoughts exactly on this. Could they install them when reinstalling? 🤔

If we're not having any issues at this point (2024 with 11K miles) do we have to / should we bring in?
Yes, but at your convenience after you get the recall notice mailed to you. They probably will go out in batches as they have to ramp up the repair kit supplies and also can't fix hundreds of thousands of cars all at once.

My thoughts as well, but I think the recall notice will show up in a Carfax report, which will also show if you got it fixed or not (could be a problem when selling the car). But maybe you can get a free wheel alignment. See this post for more details.

I think the only mod I would let the dealer do at this point is an Alcantara steering wheel. I think they have a policy where they don't install aftermarket parts anyway.

Thanks for posting the technical details.
