at the moment, i think the data may be skewed as the majority, if not all of the cars aside from people agreeing to buy demo units, that have been delivered are from the Acura online pre-sale/reservation, which hopefully most people directed towards non-markup/MSRP dealers. also, i think some dealers have agreed to honor MSRP pricing on these reserved units, but anticipate charging markups for other allocated cars down the line. at least here in CA, just about every dealership i've contacted has informed me of their markups (and of course none can specify when a car would be available).

Agree on that point. I had heard from a few when I was calling around that they would sell pre-order cars at MSRP but pricing was TBD on the rest of their allocations to follow.

Fair, I think in 2-3 months we'll have a more complete picture since the first 200 will probably be sold by month 2.

Was able to reserve one on Acura but the dealer forced 1200 dollars worth of accessories on me. This, to me, is MSRP. I will say that the accessories I got is fairly close to the 1200 dollar price tag, so I don't feel too bad about it. Ceramic tint, All Weather Mats (including the cargo mat), Wheel Locks, Door Edge and Door Handle clear protectors.
I'm in the same situation. Mine included all weather mats, tints, and wheel locks. The add-on/accessories were priced in line with Acura's site and the tint was less than what I have paid for in the past for tints installed outside of a dealership. So I was completely ok with the purchase since I would have tinted, and bought all weather mats. The wheel locks was not a big deal. MSRP otherwise.

I just started my search so I’m not familiar with a lot of what’s going on. So dealers that are showing stock other than their white demos are preorders? And ones that confirm availability are either left overs from people that backed out or the dealer got someone internally to be 1 of 200?

I began attempting to purchase in March 2023. The dealer asked for a 5k deposit and stated that their market adjustment would equal the deposit . I was told that Honda would not cash any of the deposit checks, but my car had been ordered. Still no build date. Hard to understand why they can not provide a build date. BTW, the accessories are all dealer installed, so I was told no need to order them yet. I estimate that the accessories will cost about 4 k. The out the door price as quoted, with accessories, is $68,000.

I selected MSRP and no accessories, but the dealer fee of $899 and filing fee of $141 seems like it might as well be a markup.

If the data here is to be believed, it is very interesting to say the least. I’m glad no one is paying 10k+ over MSRP. It really is hard to find the value in the car at that price point. I see there’s an uptick in the 7-9k range and that has me thinking the markup was probably $7500. It’s steep but I also know there are parts of the country where getting around that can be impossible unless travelling far distances. For the convenience aspect, although a hard pill to swallow, I can understand it.

Which then also makes me wonder… is no one truly paying 10k+ over? If so, what the hell are those dealers doing then? Greedy pricks, the lot of them. Something tells me often times they post a 15k markup, knowing full well no one will pay that much, but they’re hoping for the serious buyer who will then negotiate them down to a “win” of “only” paying 7500.

At the end of the day, a dealership is in the business of making money and they’re only hurting themselves by putting such a high markup on the car- especially a car that is only semi rare if Acura is looking to sell 3600 units per year after the first year. They’re better off charging a 3k markup and moving 12 units in a year, as opposed to charging a 15k markup and maybe moving 1. At 3k over they’re still making a killing on the car.

There is always a dealer fee to help pay for overhead costs. It is usually $599 - $899 based on what I have seen. The filing fee is probably to title the car in your state.

So it's worth keeping in mind that the sample set is very small here, self-reported survey data always needs to be taken with a grain of salt (Example: if you paid $X over MSRP, would you be proud to report that? So would you report paying MSRP? Choose to withhold a reply? There are options.), and you're only getting a (somewhat enthusiastic) cross-section of the full demographic of buyers. Currently, deliveries are largely limited to cars from the reservation system, which buyers (especially those who were around here beforehand, or inclined to read the Terms & Conditions) could route to MSRP dealers.

I'm curious to see how/if this develops long-term. I love data. I wouldn't count on dealerships letting these sit as they're competing for floor/lot space with other vehicles--frankly, Honda doesn't have as many new "showroom worthy" models (subjective), whereas Acura now has 3 Type-S models plus the ZDX around the corner. Also, dealerships will get deliveries from Acura even if they're failing to sell them. They'll run the cost/benefit and find their sweet spot.

These are typical ‘dealer’ fees which vary from dealer to dealer, state to state. Shop around and you may find them lower at another dealer.

Hello, dealer in Nashville area uses market adjustments. $2500 for Integra and TLX, $5000 for Type S of any kind, and $7500 for PMC Editions. No forced accessories, and out the door price for Integra Type S of $63000 with out accessories. Likely $68000 with accessories.

I'm just going to wait for the 2025 model year, hopefully markups are not around by then, and any first model year quirks have been worked out as well.
