HVAC Control Panel -- Does it show the mode while in Auto?

Hey all, long time no talk. I've been wondering about this for a while but didn't decide to query the hive mind until I got an A-Spec loaner from the dealer last week so they could exorcise some of the continued rattles from mine.

Anyways, The HVAC controls in my '24 Type-S have only showed the driver's and passenger's temp settings while auto is enabled. It does not show how air is flowed.

Yet the '25 A-Spec actually shows where air is being directed while in Auto.

So have I found another issue, this time a little less than 2yrs after delivery, or is it normal Type-S behavior?

So your '24 is the same?

I just went and checked interior photos on their website.....I wonder if the following photo (without air flow shown) from an "Integra A-Spec with Technology Package" is a '24....

...while this is from a '25.

And I just went back to the Press Kit for the '24 and it shows it, albeit in a very blurry image.

This is how my Civic HVAC has operated for the past 12 years.

I always took it as Auto meant the car would control air speed but out of all vents. In the winter I would always override with the defrost and manually set the blower speed.

When switching to the Integra, I just thought this was normal function.

Not sure if relevant, but my RSX does the same thing when on Auto. Air comes out from all vents on max until it reaches the requested temperature.

Mine does not show where the air flow is going either. I always leave it in auto and the car takes care of where the air is going. Like in the winter it blows out of the floor and windshield vents, but not the dash vents.

I think we are quite aware that it shows on the both the HVAC display and the entertainment system whenever you make a change to the HVAC settings and choose something other than Auto. I am specicially asking about when the HVAC is set to Auto. I thought that was clear from the thread title.

I never use auto and dont understand how it works. Every time I push it, it goes into max air.

That's because you live in the Southwest. The car probably thinks you're in the Devil's armpit and is trying to cool down the cabin as quickly as possible. Once the cabin temps even out the fan speed settles down too.

Also confirming that my climate control reading only shows the temp unless I switch to manual. Looks like the A Spec shows the fan speed while in auto mode as well. Since we're hyperfocusing a bit here, I think I prefer the more simplified readout of the Type S. Set the temp and the car makes it so, no need to tell me how that's being achieved.

dafuq would you use auto for. Y'all rail against every automatic "nanny" feature on the car yet use the most annoying one possible.

Can confirm, I had a '25 A-spec w/ tech loaner and it also showed the additional info on auto.

I just took a look on Dreamshop - the A-spec w/ tech uses a different part number for the climate control panel than the Type S, and it was updated for 2025 (I looked at manual for both - I don't imagine CVT would be any different).

The part numbers are:
2024 Type S: 79610-T22-A31ZA
2025 Type S: 79610-T22-A31ZA
2024 A-spec w/ Tech: 79610-T20-A31ZB
2025 A-spec w/ Tech: 79610-T56-C31ZA

I imagine it's an easy 1-to-1 swap but the assembly will run you about $280-290 on Dreamshop.

Interesting. Thanks for digging deeper. Oddly, when looking at our units, it appears as though the display is there, but apparently not the brains to display the info.
