I installed the Mishimoto expansion tank a while ago, and while I love it, I find it very hard to see the level of coolant through the small glass window. This is even with shinning a flashlight on the small window. What do you guys do to check the coolant level with the Mishimoto expansion tank?
If you don’t see the coolant level level in the window then you either don’t have enough OR you overfilled it. When it’s close to getting to the window you should see the coolant through the fill hole first then slowly top it off watching the window. Obviously do this with engine cold. Then after a drive or two check it again and may need anoother ounce or to to get it in the window. Window works fine for me.

Does look good. Tempting. I'm sitting on an extra OEM tank so I'll probably wait until the first one fails, install the backup, and then order one of these. Thanks for sharing.

I just ordered one. Their page mentions that the current batch is unbranded, which I actually prefer.

Lower cost alternative? Has anyone tried one of these: https://flasharkracing.com/products/2017-2021-honda-civic-type-r-aluminum-coolant-reservoir-degas ? $139.99 -20% (coupon code COVE20) = $111.99 shipped free, no sales tax. Thought I would ask before I pull the trigger.
I guess it would work fine. It does have a cool little red float in the check window. Only concern would be it doesn’t state the cap pressure. Think my Mishi is 1.3 bar.

let us know how it works!!

I installed it today. It looks just like the Mishimoto tank except finished in gloss black powder coat. It weighs 38.6 ounces (including supplied cap) and appears to be made from aluminum (it's non-magnetic). It's nicely made with clean welds. The cap that comes with it says 19 psi / 1.3 bar, so it's roughly equivalent to the OEM cap which says 127 kPa (= 18.4 psi). The OEM cap can be used on the new tank if desired.

Before installation I pumped the OEM tank dry and refilled the new tank with the same fluid and it took about 2 ounces more to fill to the middle of the sight glass, so equivalent volume to the OEM tank. The little float in the sight glass is not really that helpful as it's easy to see the blue coolant without it.

Overall I think it's a great buy at $111.99 shipped free, no sales tax, and the discount code COVE20 still works today.
