Gotcha… also understood that, for the price, many may be put off by having to further mod the intake to reflect the application.
Was the part you mentioned earlier about the insulation tube and drilling holes about the gasket material circled in orange in the OP? Because I was unclear if there were additional fitment issues.
The rubber insulation that surrounds the mouth of the intake box. It could of been installed in reverse by mistake therefore the holes and clips not lining up properly. Just an observation ........

Interesting on the fitment issues... the guys on the Tegiwa channel mentioned something about the installation near that corner but they were working with a pre-production prototype. I wonder if it's a "cure is worse than the disease" situation?

I'm starting to get just a little annoyed with my purchase. I placed the order almost exactly a month ago and have gotten absolute crickets since then... it did mention that the expected delivery timeframe is 4-6 weeks but my patience is already wearing thin. That's a ton of time for buyer's remorse to set in.

That said, I just don't want a PRL. Everyone seems to be going that direction, to me it looks actually worse than OEM- it's just not exciting, to me. For anyone who argues that "you could just get the PRL for 1/3 of the price", you have to accept my logic of not being excited about something makes it not worth it even at 1/3 of the price.

Curious to get some feedback on "driving impressions" e.g., noise, noticeable power delivery gains, etc.

@optronix I bought the Infinity Design intake specifically because of the smooth cone design (where the MAF goes) after the air filter. The Infinity Design one looked better designed and smoother than the other options.

What about a matte carbon PRL HVI at 2/3 of the price? :p

I went out for a drive this weekend and got a chance to push the intake. It was pretty cold here in the east coast and I drove in the morning so it was probably around 50s.

Both the increase in sound and power was noticeable for me. I previously had a K&N filter and I could barely hear the intake and bov but with the new intake, the intake and bov was significantly louder. I am very satisfied with how the car sounds now.

Power and specifically torque has noticeably increased for me. I was spinning out in second gear at full throttle around 5k rpm. The temperature was pretty chilly so I'm sure that didn't help with traction. It didn't feel like the car was any more responsive than before though.

I also forgot to give an update on my intake. I bought rubber spacers to protect the carbon fiber. I also cut off the plastic clip (orange circle in the original picture) and placed double sided tape like Doskiller suggested and now the seal is flush with no gap.

My final verdict is a 9 out of 10. I wish the inside of the intake had been better finished and that everything had fit perfectly but the sound and power makes up for its shortcomings. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

I hate to be the party pooper, but Geez... $1500 for an intake that shows marginal gains at best and makes more noise? Sure, it looks cool, but I have a hard time seeing the value in dropping that kind of coin on an intake. For $1500, they could at least include something of a bit better quality than the chintzy looking worm clamps.

More noise doesn't mean more power. I'd be interested in seeing a before and after dyno run under similar temps/DA.

Are you hour-long YouTube video interested?

This link should take you directly to the point where they talked about the challenges with the first pre-production unit infinity design sent them, and the comparison with the other top performing intake in their test (GruppeM). It's not exact science, but the tests were done in the same general timeframe so it's as close as we're gonna get to empirical evidence. TL;DR, once a pre-production flaw was corrected with a second unit, the Infinity Design outperformed all other intake options across the entire rev range (GruppeM had higher peak numbers though).

And a screenshot table of their results (forgive the HDR washout, should still be legible):

All these intake numbers are also within a rough 5% of factory power range per their dyno. From what hondata reviewed, it looks like power is dramatically affected by temp on this platform (it's a turbo so that makes sense).

I'd be curious how comparable these numbers really are and if they drove the car for 200 miles between changes to ensure the ecu relearns the new air flow. The limiting factor for airflow is the turbine intake sizing, so as long as every pipe north of that is the same or larger, there's not a "flow" issue. Factory air box does accomplish that and it's capable of pushing more power, so how are all these intakes fooling the ecu into making power? Does that go away when the ecu relearn airflow?

In any case, it sounds good and that's worth the money imo! Considering the exhaust options are both cheap and expensive at the same time, more noise from something even cheaper is worth it.

I guess we could just follow the tcr car front as well... Just custom make a simple SS tube curved and matched to the factory turbine inlet and use a silicone pipe to get a filter somewhere in the bumper with fresh airflow. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive, and instead of getting heat soak by going over the turbo, you can go around. Might take a little plastic trimming, though.

I was considering getting an intake on the passengers side (aka Gambit's intake) so that the intake never goes over the turbo, but I decided to go with this intake for now because I'm not a good DIYer. They mention it in the video but where the MAF goes in the Infinity design is designed differently than the other intakes and I really liked the trumpet design so that is why I ordered this kit.

@_Paul_from_Jax You're not being a party pooper, you are entitled to your own opinions. Lol. I find it humorous that the "not enough bang for the buck" is exactly the same argument that everyone online seems to have against the ITS. Personally, I don't mind spend some extra cash to get the best possible product. I'll probably hear this same exact argument when I get my wheels, exhaust, etc. etc. but I'm less price sensitive than others so it doesn't bother me.

Here's the link to gambit's intake if you're interested: https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threads/gambit-intake-kit-fl5.53674/

If everything was only about bang per buck, this car wouldn't exist, and the many luxury sports cars, super cars, and hyper cars would certainly never exist.

I'm all about a good bang per buck, but that being said, I've dropped 40k on a car, 25k in "cheap" mods, and then sold it for 15k. Pretty crap bang tbh, 😂

The value proposition is questionable if you're looking at it from a practical perspective; however, I realize a bad value prop has never stopped an enthusiast from spending money. If you plan to tune the car, the gains from these aftermarket intakes disappear. In other words, unless you get into into the large(r) frame aftermarket turbochargers pushing 450+hp to the wheels these aftermarket intakes are little more than noise makers. And that's fine, but if you're desperately counting gains at various points throughout the powerband, it may prove to be a futile task.

I still maintain this car doesn't need anymore power anyway. The torque steer at factory power levels is already getting on my nerves. Literally noise and aesthetics are the only attributes I'm looking for in an intake for this car. And by no means would I argue this as a wise purchase.
