Hey Everyone, very happy to be part of the group. Just got a white integer type s and was wondering what simple mods would be best to get better turbo sounds. Do these mods affect warranty? Was looking at some prl filters for example. Greatly appreciated!

Change filter to high flowing model
Replace intake
Some have installed a blow-off valve, but I wouldn't recommend this since the system is closed loop with a recirculating bypass valve.

Agree with the above. Would avoid the BOV due to recirculation needs. Cold air intake will increase your sounds.

If you want to hear the spooling more, its muffled by the intake track. Removing the airbox for a cone type filter is the most common thing, though a dealer could raise an eyebrow most won't for just an airfilter provided there is nothing else (but also calls to question is the ECU tuned, are other things changed.)

Just be careful the next step in annoying noises will be this, and we want to avoid the sickness.

Pretty much any intake on the market will greatly increase the turbo sounds. I just installed the Infinity Design system and it's night and day.

For reference I've had plenty of turbo cars with open element intakes and aftermarket blow-off valves. I miss the unmistakable whistle of the Greddy Type S BOV I had on an SR20DET-powered 240SX... but with this intake installed it fills that nostalgia gap pretty well.

I noticed a pretty substantial improvement in power too.

...until you put an even louder exhaust on the thing and drown out the swooshy sounds.

Yep. PRL+Borla here and 80% of what I hear is the exhaust.

I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision because I definitely don't hear much of the induction noises anymore.

Definitely keep that stock pipe for when you get sick of it 😸

Lol yeah. That, I did. I learned my lesson after letting the shop dispose of the exhaust on my past cars.

It's sitting in the garage rafters at my in-laws house rn. It's a longboi.

Now don't get me wrong, I still like the exhaust. I definitely think the stock is too quiet for my tastes and at comfort, I still get to putz around town pretty civilly. Sport and Sport+ being rowdier definitely loosened some things up though and I can hear some rattling, ringing that I didn't hear before.

First item we dropped into our shop DE5 was the PRL HVI. No tuning required, a small bump in power, bit mostly just to hear the induction sounds!

Over time we added the Inlet, and just yesterday we added the Coolant Overflow Tank as both an aesthetic and functional mod.
