Some of the other forums have this and thought it would be a nice addition. I created it on CivicXI.xom, this is the thread and shared it to FK8 group as well.

Whatever lap times you have, include them. No AutoX or drag times please.

Please input your times in the form:
Lap Time Form

And then copy and paste the submission page to this thread and we'll keep it going!

It will auto populate the Master Spreadsheet. For Tracks let's keep similar names, eventually maybe add a pull-down list.
Here is a link to the see the results of the master spreadsheet
Master Lap Times

Feel free to input multiple times at the same track from different events. You can track your own progression and if any changes to setup or mods

These are the fields we'll use on the form

I love the spirit of this thread!

Here's my most recent. Next year I'll plan on hitting more tracks with the its, but this was a first outing with the car for a shakedown. For the record, I think the car could still have dropped another 3s around the course with some more tire pressure tuning and if I dropped a passenger. My fastest time around this track is in my racecar that can run it in the low-mid 1.30s with fresh rubber for comparison. That car makes 297rwhp @ 3015lbs wet, so very similar power to weight ratio.

Great Stuff!

I inputted your info into the form so it populated the spreadsheet. This way it's easy to compare later.

Keep going fast!

thanks for sharing! i've been reading through a few of the threads trying to put together my spring track order list. i'm a fairly aggressive intermediate/advanced driver but hard on brakes (not because i'm "fast" but because i'm a hamfisted hack lol!) couple quick questions if you have time:

what kinda camber did you get? do you recall?

are you planning on sticking with the xp10 in just the front?

you sticking with teh PS4S? i'm thinking of getting rt660s... a couple of my friends use them on their Civic Type Rs and have had good success. I'll probably get a second set of stock wheels or Civic Type R wheels for the tires bc i don't want to daily the 660s (I have conti DWS which i like a lot fo the street).

Thanks!

The biggest difference between intermediate/advanced and expert (typically de2, de3, and de4) is a mastery of smoothness on the brakes. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend learning to read a speedchart and tracking your pace with a metrics app that gets the speedchart. Videos are nice, but you can get all the data from a lap or session much faster from seeing and reading a graph. Look up Ross Bentley and sign up for his email blasts. He's a former indy driver and a pro instructor who spends a lot of time talking about brake utilization. He's ridden along with me once, and he's a wonderfully cool dude to chat with!

I'm sticking to the ps4s for now because this is my daily. My racecar isn't street legal and it's on slicks, so when I want to pull out real pace and consistency that's the car that goes out. I run the xp12/10 on it. Eventually I'll get the 18x10.5 apex wheels for the its and run a 285/30. Probably something more high speed oriented like the new Hoosier track attack tire.

The thing is, with those Uber sticky 200tw tires, the car isn't running enough camber. It would need closer to -2.5 up front to make best use of a 200tw. Not a deal breaker, but it would be wise to run a symmetric tire to be able to flip on the rim for edge wear reasons. The 300tw ps4s is pretty happy with the stock capable camber.

I would not recommend the rt660. It's a fine tire for autox and if you're driving at 70-80%, but once you pick up pace it cooks in about 2 laps, especially if you decide to run a very strong brake pad, like an xp10. Most of the super 200s cook really fast. There are a couple notable exceptions, but I would generally recommend a consistent tire over a peaky one-lap-hero tire.

I do like the xp10 and plan to continue with them in just the front. Xp10 out back would be too much since I can already pick up and lock a rear wheel. Xp8 could be usable, but I don't find it necessary for my needs. You could go there and do some toe out front at 1/32nd and toe 0 rear or event some toe out for a much more tail happy car that will like to oversteer on entry (good for fwd).

Iā€™ve been using a Garmin catalyst ā€¦ decent info but I havenā€™t seen a speed chart ā€¦ I think youā€™re probably talking about something truly integrated like Aim Solo(?)?. I havenā€™t gotten there yet and change cars so often it seems like a headache. No doubt it would help me, as would more coaching but Iā€™m a creature of habit at this point. Have fun and content with my rather average skillset lol.

Iā€™ve definitely heard of Ross Bentley and glad you got a chance to spend time with him. Legend!

Uneven tire wear is definitely not ideal and Iā€™m certainly not shooting for a lap record anywhere. I think the rt660 can be swapped back to front which isnā€™t bad for extending life considering the square setup ā€¦ I do have the PS4S that I pulled off these tires so I should probably at least burnt through those first I suppose. Few hundred miles on em but I hope I stored them well enough to prevent weird sidewall degradation (stacked on their sides for a few months in garage). šŸ˜¬

I appreciate the input all around. I look forward to trying this car although I have a suspicion that Iā€™ll be seeking a RWD car after Watkins Glen in March ā€¦ maybe Iā€™m being too negative but we shall see. Even if I miss the RWD character, itā€™ll still be a blast. Always is.

What was your previous rwd car?

I've been lucky enough between friends, students, and seat opportunities to drive a lot of cars. Honestly, the drive type rarely matters. The only exception is awd... I've only driven two awd cars that weren't understeer prone, but in general I find rwd>fwd>awd.

I think you'll be surprised by the pace this car can put down in stock form. Funny enough, when I spoke with Ross last I mused that every driver should own and drive a fast fwd car at some point in their career to learn to keep momentum up and he agreed. He even spoke about it in the next lesson he was giving because it was a room full of mustang and corvette drivers, lol.

So I'm torn on the catalyst. The chief architect and the sponsor of the product at Garmin are both friends of mine who drive in my region. I love the product and I think it's incredibly helpful, but there are two things it's missing that I keep pressing on them to improve... A speedchart (should be easy) and obd integration for throttle, brake, steering, and boost detail.

To get around this limitation today, I would recommend also running Harry's lap timer or track addict. They're cheap and you'll get the speedchart detail out. You can also buy a 10hz or 20hz GPS sensor for far more precision.

last 3 cars Iā€™ve used for track days were c8 z06, before that was M3CS (actually not bad at all in AWD), and 718 GT4. Definitely a mixed bag. All great in their own ways and each has their shortcomings.

you sure are a connected individual, it seems. Ross Bentley and the catalyst folks is really cool! I actually have used Harryā€™s lap timer a couple times in the past and didnā€™t realize it had integration either ā€¦ Iā€™ll have to look into that though. One thing for me is itā€™s hard to find consistency bc I go to so many different tracks and cycle through cars very frequently. Maybe Iā€™ll hold onto one long enough to have data capture make sense.

Thanks again for the input

Like I said, I've been very lucky! I only met Ross because he came to my region to instruct with NASA a few times. That's how I've met a lot of cool characters, and it always seems to work out being nice to everyone, regardless of their social status or walk of life.

With a lot of variation, I'd recommend to view each track in a corner by corner lens. Once you learn one decreasing radius hairpin, it's easy to fit another even if it may be a different pace or surface. I would keep a logbook if you're not already where you note your car setup, feel, pace, track, corner details and what you're working on. Sim time helps build consistency, as does seat time and REDUCING changes to the car. It's always tempting to mod, but it's also the fastest way to ruin a good car. That said, tires, brakes, and fluids are key for consistency. No need for the best of the best tires. The hoosinental is solid and consistent, and the new track attack is supposed to be as well. The lower limit hoosinental is probably the smarter choice for driver growth since it communicates well and is proven to not cook after a few laps. I was pleasantly surprised by the dt1 ps4s on the Integra. It did not wear anywhere nearly as quickly as an n-spec ps4s. It feels more like a *-spec in comparison to other ps4s.
