My type S seems to be not as warm as my challengers was. But it’s good enough. I’m typically all bundled up with layers cause of my job so, I really don’t care too much. I do wish these cars had a heated steering wheel though. Totally lame for the price point this car is at that it doesn’t have one.
My steering wheel is heated......absolutely love it.........heats up in 45 seconds. Needed here in the Great White North!

They are quite good in the ITS IMO, compared to my 05 6-6 Accord. In that car, I could almost forget them on without noticing it...even in the summer. They were really a joke as they were barely warm even after driving for a while. Totally worthless.

In the ITS, they need a bit of time to warm up, but when they are hot, could not keep them at 3.
I doubt it is the case, but I still wonder if the Canadian spec car which comes from the factory with heated steering wheel, if the seats have beefier heating elements which is why opinions might differ.

Interesting. I wonder if they could wire this into the heated seat button instead, like they both come on
I wish they would have just left a button in a normal place... Losing the hole sucks because a lot of people like to rest their hand there... Then again our back half of that hole is really cheap hollow plastic, so it really sucks to use anyway. Why they didn't make that part metal I can't possibly imagine.

The solution I took was to just get the Alcantara wheel. No more need for a heated wheel since it's not ice cold leather.

My seat warmers act weird. When I have them on 3 I feel nothing. Like if I left them on from earlier or if I turned them all the way off, and then turn them on an hour later or my next key cycle. Nothing. It’s barely warm.
When they automatically drop to two bars, I’ll cycle them off and back on again (3 clicks) and after that they get VERY warm. I dunno just how my car works.

What do you mean they automatically drop to two bars?

The 3 bar feels like a 1 bar after
That doesn't sound like the description. That I can understand if the temp sensor is misaligned or not working properly so it thinks it's hotter than it actually is.

From what they described, it sounds like the actual led for the switch is dropping from 3 to 2 and I've never seen that before. My wife leaves hers on 3 all the time, and I typically keep mine at 2 for a few mins then drop to 1 as I start to cook.

In reality, the Bosch ecu actually allows tuning of the temp sensor up and down a few degrees at each of the three steps. I've seen (higher quality) audi dealers actually tune it when a customer complains because they have the capability with their registry management tool (odis). You can even do the same yourself with obd eleven. I really wish acura/Honda would partner with obd eleven, but I'm not sure why they haven't done so yet. Toyota has.

I never for the life of me put my warmers at level 2. I just put them at 3….and after driving for a while they will just be at 2. I don’t hit them on accident, it’s just automatically drops. I know a few cars that do this where it will gently lower the heat of the seats since the car believes everything is up to temp and you have become comfortable in the car. Maybe I should see if I could get it on film dropping bars.

That doesn't sound right. My wife has left her side on 3 for at least 45mins and it hasn't dropped to 2 at all.

This sounds like a dealer visit to confirm it's not tripping some sort of fail safe or the sensor isn't going whacko.

it actually just happened on the way to work, I’ll have to try and get some video of it happening. The seat warmers aren’t that great so I leave them at 3 and then I’ll just shut them off. But I rarely use level one and never use level 2. I’ll try and get some evidence soon.

This is interesting. I had a loaner TLX that was doing exactly this. Seats were set to 3, I'd look down a few minutes later and they were on 2. I couldn't tell any change in temp besides the usual cycling that takes place.

I'm about 90% certain that's a thermostat issue tripping a failsafe that the ecu then lowers the temp to prevent a fire.

The Bosch ecu recognizes defined ranges for each step of the heating and the thermostat is responsible for feeding back the temp data to the ecu.

The other 10% thinks it could be a damaged heat element. They're thin and fairly close to the surface of the seat. Heavy objects with edges could break the element, as well as a heavier person with something angular in their back pocket (like a cell phone or pocket watch).

There are lots of cars that have this feature. Where the hottest setting goes on for a certain period of time and then it dissipates to a lower setting since the car would be warm at that point. My main point was that when I cycle thru after it drops down to 2 bars, the seat heaters get very hot. And warm up quickly.
