The final ITS packaging could still have a few key differences that would hopefully net a lower price.
  • Even with the same motor, they could have a lower total output identical to the FK8. Thus making it the 2nd best performance option in the Honda/Acura lineup
  • Less or none of the additional chassis reinforcement that the CTR gets in Japan
  • No import fees like Mike said above, with everything made stateside.
Here is hoping for a $42k manual ITS. I will be leaning toward this compared to the GRC given all the extra features it has, and is way more practical.
I have been thinking 43k until the CTR dropped. This could still be a possibility with the lack of features you stated. Hopefully we hear some news soon.

Not sure any of this is relevant and I do not know the weight to power equation but wouldn’t an ITS with the TLXs motor still be rather quick since it would weigh in roughly 840lbs lighter than it? I included the S3 and Type R for additional comparison.

Acura TLX A spec SH-AWD 3990lbs 2.0T = 272hp

Acura Integra A spec 3150lbs 1.5T = 200hp

Audi S3 3538lbs 2.0T = 306hp

Honda Civic Type R 3160lbs 2.0T = 315hp

The Accord 2.0T with 252hp is probably the closest example at 3,350lbs and it hits 0-60 in 5.5s. It would certainly be no slouch with any 2.0T, but the CTR drivetrain for me would be the most desirable

+157 lbs for auto 2.0T (3307 lbs)
or
+75 lbs for 6MT 2.0T (3225 lbs)

Someone mentioned the PMC facility to build the Type S, and I missed this article earlier in the year. The biggest question would be production numbers. While I would love them to come out of this facility, I would hope they could ramp up production.

PMC is a special run even on the TypeS TLX, hand built with special paint color option. They still sell normal TLX TypeS that are manufactured in the Ohio facility.

Motors are the same between the FK8 and FL5. Now the FL5 has a updated turbo design and the intake has a manifold for enhanced sound. But both are rocking a K20C1 motor.
I understand that. But it’s still the package as a whole. They wouldn’t be able to put the new turbo/intake etc version of the k20c1 and keep the cost down. It’s the same engine code but it’s still a “new” and “different” motor from a cost pov. The cost for the new turbo design etc is baked into the “FL5 motor” as opposed to the “FK8 motor” with older turbo design and 5 years of production, has less need for a higher profit margin.

It would definitely be faster. However I feel like 300 is the milestone for the segment. Regardless of its times, if it’s under that number, it looks much more inferior to the competitors.

QC is not what it once was. Likely due to the labor shortage. Many American companies are going through the same thing. The "Honda build quality" is not as reputable as it used to be.

Overworked employees tend to make "stupid mistakes."

Type S will be built in Marysville, Ohio more than likely on the same line as the base Integra and Accord. PMC facility will be making PMC Edition Acura’s. After the TLX S we will more then likely get a PMC MDX S and then Integra S down the line which will keep the workers busy until the NSX 3rd Gen will be manufactured there.

Ah that makes sense, and is unfortunate to hear. Waiting for the Type S will hopefully allow manufacturing to stabilize. Buying the GR Corolla coming out of Motomachi may be have far superior build quality, along with the CTR
