edit: is the filter shared between the FL5 and FK8, or would each require a different part?
I don’t think that FL5 and FK8 air filters are the same—OEM air filter part number for FL5/DE5 is 17220-66V-A00 whereas for FK8 it’s 17220-5BF-A00. Also read somewhere the shapes are different

Picked up a K&N today, the 2013 Acura MDX is a direct fit, the part number is 33-2454, get some nice turbo sounds and a bit of blowoff, sounds nice but I don't think I am going to keep it in full time, was just curious because the car to me is very quiet on most sounds.

There are conflicting opinions regarding the need to do a break in period on a car these days. I'm sure you fine.

Wonder which one is better?

I don't have a basis for comparison as I have not put the sprint filter in my car but I did read the thread that was previously posted and it was very informative.

For me, the K&N kind of hits the sweet spot, you obviously get more protection from dust, etc with the K&N as opposed to the sprint, the car is still very quiet but it's nice to at least hear some turbo noises.

A word of caution for fellow Canadians:
If you order the filter from Madness, they will ship with Fedex, even if you ask them to ship USPS. Then you'll receive the package without anything to pay at delivery. Then, a month later, you'll receive a bill from Fedex asking you to pay taxes, custom fees, brokerage fees and the like. Just got this invoice for 75 $CAD.

Know that with the filter price, the shipping and these Fedex fees, the filter will be around 255 $CAD.

I'm quite pissed at Madness for not reading my instructions (or not willing to do so without saying it and letting me back off if I wanted to).

Now you know before you order!

I was just about to pull the trigger on the sprint filter until I read this…at that price I might as well by the spoon branded one yeeesh.
Can’t seem to find anyone else who carries the sprint filter though.

Maybe you can email them before you order? They should email back right? Never heard of the site before I ordered one.

Does the K&N make the whoosh sound more noticeable? I wouldn’t say the sprint makes the car loud.

Yeah, I do also have the titanium turbo inlet, it is loud with the windows down, not so much with windows up

I actually went ahead & ordered the orange Sprint filter as well to take a step down from the race version. Will still get an intake eventually but really the oem is a great setup up to about 400hp where I'll be anyway by the weekend, so no huge rush. I don't plan on doing fuel & turbo upgrades for a while where it would be more necessary.
Where did u order from ? I'm having hard time finding it
