Length of time before ITS A/C blows cold air?

I've noticed that it seems to take a very long time (> 1 min) for the A/C to start blowing cold air when the engine is cold and the interior of the car is hot. For example after my ITS has been sitting outside in the sun during the work day. However, after it finally starts blowing cold air the A/C system works just fine and keeps things nice and cool. Has anyone else noticed this abnormally long A/C 'start up' time?

It's not a big deal, but I've owned many cars and can't remember one that took as long as the ITS does for the A/C to kick in. Just seems odd.

Was your other cars you’re mentally comparing it to using 134a or 1234yf, this car uses a different Freon and in my opinion doesn’t get as cold as 134a…. Not to mention the sheer cost of yf Freon is astronomical.

I can live with a minute or so, especially in super hot conditions. I think the air is pretty icy after not too long. The Kia's we have had in the family offered super A/C in my opinion. Sorento and Stinger both really good in this regard.

I have no trouble with A/C during FL hot weather, especially last week that central FL was hit with a stationary high pressure that raised temps to 100F in many places.

I live in AZ where warm is its own legend. I find it comparable with other cars I have owned the past 40 years.

It's not how cold the A/C is, it's how long it takes for it to 'kick in'.

You're right, the hydrofluorinated alkanes (HFAs), like 134a, that replaced ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons in the early 90s have now been identified as having a high global warming potential. As a result, the HFAs are being replaced with low global warming potential refrigerants like HFO-1234yf. And, they're indeed expensive.

Over 90 out today and within a minute or so I could feel cold air. It was able to bring the cabin in check about another 2 or 3 minutes after. Granted I was going 40mph+
