Clicking noise from left front ONLY when turning right...

Sounds roughly like what you'd expect from a worn CV axle. But my car has 8k miles on it... I really don't think that's what's going on here. I just noticed the noise recently but I can only hear it with the windows down and it may be possible it's made this noise all along and I just never noticed til now. I thought I heard it once when turning left but I can't seem to consistently duplicate this (might be because I'm literally just farther away from the sound...); happens virtually every time I turn right, but more noticeable at higher speeds/more forceful turns.

I saw somewhere on Reddit that someone tried to pass this off as normal behavior from the LSD... can anyone corroborate this?

Lsd don't click, and the factory lsd is helical so it should be dead silent.

Do you "feel" the click? I've got a click when turning right and I'm 99% confident it's a worn out cable reel. Honda doesn't use clock springs, they use cable reels and when they start to go they click. Mine is pretty silent right now and only audible with windows up, music off/low, when making right turns. As they wear more they get significantly louder.

The other reason you can get clicking, especially if you feel it strongly in the steering wheel or it echoes in the cabin is worn endlinks.

Have you jacked up the car and checked for any play?

Nah, can't really feel it. I can't hear it at all in the cabin, only with the windows rolled down. I'm almost positive it's not in or near the steering wheel.

I haven't done anything as far as troubleshooting besides make this thread, primarily to see if other people are experiencing similar things. So far it appears I'm 1 for 1?

Do you think it's the outer tie rod? My 2022 MDX A-Spec was making that clunk noise every time turning the steering wheel to the left and turns out to be a loose nut. They ended up replacing it under warranty and doesn't make any more noise after that.

I drove it this morning with the windows down and it's making all kinds of noise lol. Clicking, squeaking... Ironically, where I drove to this morning was to get springs installed so I'm curious if that will make any difference, because at this point I have no idea what's making the noise, and it could be squeaky springs for all I know; I have noticed the occasional squeak when I sit my fat ass (~175lb) in the car (or get out of it). In any case if it's still noisy after the install then I'll get it into the dealer, ready to argue the noise was there before the springs went in.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty hard on the car and have ~7-8 autocross events (~50+ individual runs), and one HPDE. If it squeaks a bit I guess I can live with that.

Springs shouldn't squeak unless they're making contact or progressive springs where coils will inevitably bind.

Hard driving also shouldn't be causing squeaks.

You can ask the shop doing your springs to check for signs of contact in the suspension. If they're a good shop they should also paint pen every bolt they touch after it's torqued to spec so you'll know exactly what was touched and what was done.

The squeaking though could probably be attributed to brakes. That's normal and it comes and goes. Yes it will make an audible noise of some sort when I get in and out of the car occasionally... show me a car that doesn't. I didn't think much of it when I first heard it and I don't now (anymore).

I love when cars fix themselves.

Kidding aside, something may have worked itself a bit loose, or there was a rock stuck somewhere. In that sense I disagree that driving a car hard can't cause noises. I guess I'll never know.

Please show me a shop near me that goes to this extent. I've been looking for a top tier shop for a while, I can't find one. Apparently there's a race shop about an hour away that seems promising... but for this one I take what I can get, and I'm almost certain none of this was done. I'd be lucky if the bolts were torqued to spec; but I'm confident they're "tight".

Having standards is good, and I agree that truly "doing things properly" would imply marking the bolts as you suggest... but if I were to guess I'd say less than 5% of shops across the country would actually do this. I wish I was wrong.

Im glad your random noise went away. You made a great choice with the prokit. It offers a nice even looking drop. I still havent taken mine in for alignment but seeing everyone elses numbers i doubt it corrects much.

Any chance it's the front brake pad shifting up and down in the caliper? I've experienced the little pad shift when going from reverse to drive, usually backing out of the driveway situation, or a parking lot, when I'm more likely to have a lot of steering input.

I don't. I tried several times to duplicate the noise again this morning- it's gone.

My guess is a loose tie rod that was buttoned up when the alignment was done. That's all I got...

I doubt this is the issue, but I would re-torque the lug nuts. It'll take you three minutes and if it fails to solve the problem it's still good sense. I hope it's not something more serious, but at least you're still under warranty.

If you want to go further, but the car in the air and twist the front wheels laterally (east west) and vertically (north south) and see if there's any play. If there is then you either having an issue with bushings, links. or tie rods. All warrantied.

Thanks - yep, checked/tighted lugs. They were fine. Don't have a way to lift it other than my jack. Will likely just take to dealer who's closeby. Will report back.

I recall someone having a loose swaybar link and it was making sounds. I would retorque all the suspension components and see if the sound is eliminated.
