Anyone change there steering wheel yet ?

That looks pretty good. Where is that from? Also, is it a replacement for that part or is it literally just adhesive overlay? Either way it looks good. How much was it?

I went with the optional OEM suede steering wheel, but this new Mugen wheel looks pretty darn good too.

In the Miata world a company in Poland, Guardian Designs, makes custom wheels to your specifications, from mild to wild. They’ve done Honda wheels before, S2000 and CR-Z, maybe they can be convinced to start a Civic/Integra line.

The wheel I got is on the mild side, it’s a smaller diameter, thicker and is “seamless”, the only seams being the noon marker and the center seam.

I believe there is a waiting list for it with King Motorsports in Wisconsin. I’m gonna have them lower my car and do some dyno runs in the upcoming weeks, so I can check the eta on this wheel while I’m there.

You don't have to go to Poland. Google in your area for custom interior or car interior repair places. Often they also do steering wheels and can do anything you want. The downside is you're paying American labor prices, so expect cost to be comparative. They'll take your stock wheel, strip it down, rebuild cushion, and then rebuild the cover out of whatever color combo and material you want. Keeping factory core is typically best because it has to meet certain strength minimums, so it might be worth asking the aftermarket company if their wheel has been tested to the min-spec requirements.

I find it so interesting how manufacturers make D bottom wheels and funky grip designs only to hear from "enthusiasts", "stop giving us form, make a round wheel so we have function!" Only to make a perfectly round wheel and then have the enthusiasts swap it for even funkier shapes, lol. To each their own! Whatever makes you happy in the tactile department is important. I personally prefer D bottom wheels, but the factory Alcantara I've been getting into. Coming from more German cars recently, I'm blown away by how freakin cheap the Honda wheel parts are! For the Germans it's at least 4x the price.

I think it’d be hard to find somebody to do a wheel as nice and custom. The Guardian Designs wheels are built on an OEM core and the air bag and controls fit right on. Their quality is a know quantity, so that was another reason I went with them. I‘d hate to hire somebody to redo my wheel and then not be happy with the quality.

Personally I don’t like all the funky shapes and was torn even getting the thumb rests, but in the end I’m glad I did.
