RE: Pops and Bangs

My first impulse with anything related to pops and bangs is to check for shadow codes and clear them. I've noticed that's a common trend with those who have issues with the overrun.

^Fuel quality is probably a huge factor in the pops and bangs equation... shit, I'd start there.

I know I read somewhere that some folks are saying they're skipping using 93 octane because it's "recommended" not "required"... I wonder if these are the same folks complaining about the pops and bangs changing...

It's not expensive... On average it's like 64c per gallon of a difference. For a tiny tank like ours that's less than 7$ per fill up. The average car loan is 730$/mo these days, and lines up with the cost of this car. So the average fill up is <1% the cost of the car loan more. That's a drop in the bucket compared to everything else.

I like Costco because they turnover their gas so quickly and a lot of anecdotal evidence online from people who worked at their gas stations said they have to maintain a high level of maintenance/quality.
Costco gas is Top tier rated

Costco gas stations near me have endless lines, to me the wait is not worth the several bucks I would save on the fill up. Usually I use Mobil 93 .
Yeah the lines at costco are brutal, but any good quality gas will work.

This. My car didn’t make pops and bangs. No check engine light. There was a “low voltage to ecu” stored code. Cleared the code, turned the car off and let it sit for a few minutes. Bam, pops and bangs are back. I have noticed, more recently, the random cracks on downshifts are getting more frequent and louder. My LC is the same way, it “gifts” you once in awhile with a loud crack on downshifts. Instant smile.
