Living in Michigan we get some decent winters, but recent years haven't been nearly as bad and most really abd days everything kind of halts to a stop anyway with work. I have the ability to borrow a 4 wheel drive vehicle in absolute worst cases, so I am curious if I should consider getting 18s with a thinner tire for nearly $2K, or get 265/30R/19 All seasons (DSW06s) or Winter tires (Alpina A5). Ideally I wouldn't mind saving money since I can always catch a ride or borrow a vehicle. Just looking for some advice.

The DSW06s have great reviews and come in at about half the price of the DSW06s and being conscious of what I spend I want to make the best choice for my situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also another thing to add, I had DSW06s on my corvette when I woned it and had great experiences in light to medium snow, which matches others reviews, its jsut severe snow is a different case but we haven't had much severe snow in recent years besides a day or two.

I have 275/35/19s on stock suspension. I have the Integra Type S module too so with the extra sidewall it's a really smooth ride. I don't like the added height though

Yeah I was looking at 255/35R19 because way more options for winter tires in that range, that are a lot cheaper, thinking they will fit but want to make sure

I'm currently running Nexen Winguard Sport 2 tires in 255/35/19 on the factory wheels. I've been running them for about a month now in mild New England weather. Cost was $192/tire, installed at the dealership.

Though I don't anticipate driving much this winter, I figured it's better to have a more dedicated set of tires for winter. What really helped to reinforce this decision was that I have a set of wheels on order which I plan to have the PS4S mounted to for spring through fall.

In your situation it sounds like you can get away with just putting the car away for the winter and not have to deal with that dilemma at all. However, if you're planning to drive it then I'd recommend the DWS06 and just not taking it out if it gets too bad, that way you're not spending on a dedicated winter set.

FWIW, I drove my 2004 Accord V6 manual exclusively with DWS06 tires for the entire 12 years I owned it in all 4 seasons. I've never had any real issues with snow as long as I was mindful of conditions, which kind of goes without saying.

With the 255/35R19 are you having any rubbing issues? I saw so many options under that size, but am afraid of potnetial rubbing.

I also run the DWS06 Plus all-seasons and had zero issue here in Chicago last Winter. I did not take the car out in heavy snow, but cold and wet performance was good. Of course, I didn't flog the car in the wet, but cold, dry performance was nice.

I run this size for my winter setup on factory wheels. Also lowered my car while still on winters and had no issues, you’ll be fine

Pirelli Sottozero. They’re pretty affordable and quite good. No issues in Chicago last year. Side note, nice to see another 350/500 lover, used to have a 350R (assuming this based on your pic)

You'll be OK, I'm lowered on H&R springs and also using 20mm spacers and it doesn't rub.

Are you running the series 2 or 3 sotto? I haven't run a sotto since the series ii several years back and it was pretty good.

OP, I'm in kc south of Chicagoland so I don't get the random blizzard as much as you guys, but my main concern is potholes and ice. I have some vredstein wintrac pro coming in today in a 255/40/18 which is the same size as a 255/35/19. I have zero concerns around this fitment, but I'm very excited for the extra ride height, winter comfort, and ice traction.

I've used several performance winter tires, and the wintrac are some of my favorite. They occasionally lack in a few areas like braking against the Michelin pa, but for dry and damp winter grip they're fantastic. Ice traction is pretty solid. The best part though is that they behave like a summer tire with lower ultimate grip. My Michelin winters have understeered dramatically while the vreds are more oversteer prone. I'd take the Michelin in a rwd car or a rear biased awd/4wd, but I prefer the vreds on fwd.

Awesome thank you for that. i was looking at the Wintracs as they are a bit cheaper than otheres but saw some concerns about ice. I live off a dirt road, a crime i know, which does get lots of Ice so may have to go to blizzeks for that.
