Has anyone tried to mount a rear dashcam in their car yet or seen anyone that has done so successfully?

I currently run a front-facing dashcam and I want to add one for the rear too but I'm not sure how well that would work since the rear camera would mount to the rear window. The main issue there is that the window is part of the hatch that opens when you access the trunk, so I'm not sure how to best handle the wiring in that case.

I thought about getting one of those cameras that has a rear-facing camera that records the interior and allows you to see what's going on behind the car through the rear windshield, but I'm looking for something that would give me a wider/clearer view out the back.

Interested as well. I was hoping somebody had a write-up of attaching somehow to the interior headliner and pointing out the rear hatch window

This might be the easiest solution that doesn't involve routing wiring in a way that leaves enough slack for the hatch to open, etc.: https://www.thedashcamstore.com/custom-metal-mounting-bracket-for-adhesive-dashcam-lenses/

A Reddit user says they used this in their 2022 Civic Hatch here:
No pictures of the finished installation with this clip though, unfortunately. The pic in the post is from an attempt to mount the rear camera to the window.

Good find!
Thatā€™s how I was thinking of trying to do it. That clip would sure help and clean things up a bit. I have ceramic tint on my windows so am not sticking anything on them but desire the rear viewing camera. I havenā€™t pulled the trigger on the fitcam front and rear bundle because of it

mine is sort of messy because I didnā€™t go and wire through the little cable area, I just went up the weather stripping to the trunk and from there into the window with some slack shown. When the trunk is closed there is a little bit of extra cable just sitting behind the dashcam.

I have seen a few on youtube but not specifically in an ITS yet.
I do however really like the one that straps over your existing mirror and replaces it with a dig rear and 3 camera set p, front, cabin and rear.
I was thinking of installing this when I take delivery of the car, it offers sentry mode via an app and a ton of features I think would be great.

I did my fitcamx front/rear install recently and I also used that grommet. Takes a bit of patience to get it through. I'd recommend applying some silicone grease. I also installed a third light blinker while I was at it.

Can you post a pic of the final result? Definitely interested in doing this myself, but looking for the cleanest solution.

how are people powering the rear dash cam?

i currently have a mirror tap to power an Escort Radar and M2 camera for the front, but am looking to get an additional camera to place in the rear too.

Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere, but I can't seem to find good advice on how to run the Fitcamx cable from the rearview mirror back to the trunk area, but without interfering with the side curtain airbags..

This civic install video looks good, but seems like it would block the airbags.

I did the front camera installation, which was super easy. Now stuck on how to do the rear one. Thanks all!
