So, I got this code, P0087, yesterday while I was on Track. Cleared the code myself and everything was normal at next restart, pops and bangs immediately back. Are we just clearing the code and going on with life? Was the fact that I was flooring the car the issue? Haven't floored it since, bit I'll go out and try in the next couple days. This happened on day two at the track. Lots of hard driving.
P0087 is iirc low rail pressure. Where was your fuel level? If the hp fuel system is coding low rail pressure (in comparison to what's desired by the PCM) it could be being starved on the lift pump side. Not sure if Honda has a pressure sensor on the supply side of the fuel system.

Honestly I think I had 3/4 of a tank minimum. Was on a straight section of track, right after a very aggressive u-turn. Maybe 5-6 seconds after the u-turn.

Well, lost my pops and bangs yesterday. No check engine, nothing seems to be wrong. There are just gone. Will have to check with my reader when I have time to see if there is a stored code. Probably...

I typically always keep the cheap little $40 one in the vehicle somewhere with me just for instances like this. Glad I had it when I picked up some old 93 octane from Shell because for some reason that makes no sense to me, clearing the codes both times worked.

What do you have? I've had a super basic one like this for a long while now. I just use it to read and clear codes and I'm not sure what I'm missing out on vs the nicer, more expensive ones.

Good call on keeping it in the car though -- I'll stow this in the integra from now on.

Mine is about the same thing! Same size and same looking menu, just blue and "Performance Tool" brand. I need to get a better one to deal with the e brake for changing the rear pads though.

Paid for an OBD blocker to secure the car. It is not super fun to everytime, have to remove the blocker to get access to the ODB port. God, I've used the OBD port on the ITS more times than I used it on all the other cars I ever owned in the past!

I would use one in Canada too. Sad theft has gotten that bad up there and police seem to promote giving your things to them almost.

Turdeau said to just leave your keys outside for the thieves lol

back on topic lol i've been wanting to follow up on the whole pop and burbles thing. my pops and bangs do stop while i'm driving, every time i drive, usually after about 10 - 20 minutes. sometimes changing modes feels like it fixes it, but most of the time it doesn't and you just have to wait a minute or 2 for them to come back. this isn't related to a CEL or DTC code (i haven't checked in a while but when i got the rev emissions CEL i cleared the DTC myself which fixed the issue for me) this just happens during normal driving with nothing wrong with the car (as far as i can tell)

Yeah, that was strange to read and even saw a video on it where police echoed the same sentiment. Like ok - let's just assume that criminal ONLY want your car keys and have no other ill intentions. 🙄 I certainly don't want to harm anyone, but if the law is setup that forces the way that a kill is better than a wound, then so be it. Harsher penalties would go a long way anywhere.

Hmm, that's interesting that it seems intermittent with you with no filling around with clearing the code etc and comes back to normal on its on. I'd maybe consider driving with a code reader plugged in just to capture a possible code on the fly before it goes away. I thought the Hondata app was perfect for this but turns out you need the FlashPro plugged in for the real time app to work. 😑 Of course I bought the long wired FlashPro just before they released the mini. Didn't think I would care at first but with all the different times flashing, the app, and wanting to see things like this on the fly wish I had it now.

You might have a pending code that is intermittent.
Honda’s/Acura’s have 3 DTC status, sometimes 4, that most standard readers cannot read. Pending, Active, Permanent, Stored. Pending meaning it is happening but has not met the code’s criteria to flag (may or may not turn in CEL.. usually doesn’t). Current the code is active and happening now (will turn on CEL). Permanent is the code is active and will not clear/erase with any code reader until the issue is fixed. The PCM/ECM must then run its criteria test to see that the issue is corrected and once the code is fixed it will move to stored which then it can be erased. Stored means it happened the PCM flagged it, but it corrected itself or the issue is no longer happening (the CEL sometimes turns off itself depending on the code). Quite honestly I only ever diag Current/Permanent codes unless there’s complaint for a pending or stored code.

This happens to me pretty often, mos rod the time when I come to a complete stop then the pops will come back, but goes away for a minute or two after I go WOT. I also noticed that it happens more often when it’s super hot out for me. I have wondered if the bay temp impacts pops and bangs.

Didn't use the reader. When I drove the car this Saturday, they were back, and super loud... Don't understand!

There's always a decent amount of 'soot' coming out of the center pipe. I wonder if sometimes it gets a little gunked up and reduces it's movement and then sometimes all of a sudden just blows itself out and cleans up.
