That's good to know. I've definitely been experimenting with tire pressure lately. Sounds like I'm too low. On the 275/35/R18 tires in my pics, I was running around 34 PSI front and 31 PSI rear (cold). Sounds like that might be a tad low.

Thanks for the info! I'll try some higher pressures when it's time for summer tires again.
With 18s your load rating is also much higher so 29psi is equivalent to 35psi in oem load rating.

On the 265/30/19 i found 44/40 to be pretty well balanced at the track, but it will change depending the surface and track. I could have further tuned driver front to 46, passenger 43, rears 40/40.

44psi on oem tires is 34psi and 40 is 33. Sounds like you're not terribly far off, but if you're on 9.5" wheels you might need that bumped 2-3psi still to account for the significantly wider tire footprint (the oem 265 dt1 is narrower by 3/4" than 265 regular ps4s so the 275 is i bet a whole 1" wider).

Thank you!! I will definitely give it a shot. I'm on 265/35/R19 now for the winter with all seasons, so I'll add a few PSI for now anyways. Won't hurt the gas mileage haha

You're correct. There's definitely na point of too far. I usually base my pressure of how the tire is wearing when I don't have a proper tire pyro on hand. Too much wear at the edges - pressure up, too much wear in the middle - pressure down, not enough turn in rotation - pressure up rear or down front, outer edge rolling over - pressure up or more neg camber (situational), inside wearing too fast - pressure up or less neg camber (situational), and lastly if all else fails but tires are wearing unevenly, then toe spec needs adjustment in or out.

265/30 @ 35psi = 265/35 @ 30psi. Check out tiresize.com/pressure-calculator.

Here's mine at 3k. 9/32nds left in front and 9.5 back. One track day with a very rough surface and approximately 120 laps. The wear is even and camber correct for track use. Street use and hwy pulls would need some camber taken out.

And here's a ps4s from another car with 8k mi on it and 7/32 left. You can tell it's a lot cleaner looking because that car doesn't see track time, unless you count my wife ripping it from daycare to her work as track time.

you'd be surprised how aggressively some mom's drive. i always see them absolutely flooring it once lights turn green.

you'd be surprised how aggressively some mom's drive. i always see them absolutely flooring it once lights turn green.
Not too surprised, 😂. There's a reason wifey leadfoot got a supercharged v6 q7 and a set of ps4s on 22s. And it's the same reason I just got new Porterfield r4s pads to replace the oem brembo/textar setup for her, lol.

Fun fact, a simple tune on that engine nets 450hp crank, up from 333 factory. Tuned it can hit 60 in 4.1s and the quarter in the mid 12s. It makes a phenomenal tow vehicle.

The original NSX is famously very hard on tires, and I think it's the toe out that causes it. Of course they handle beautifully. But they eat tires. I'm not sure you can get 8k miles out of a set.

If you're primarily driving on street, and you don't want to spend a lot on tires, I'd use factory specs, they are not very aggressive. If you regularly track you'll want more negative camber, but you don't need much toe. Maybe .02' toe in.

All depends on what your goals are.

0 toe front and 1/16th total toe in rear has worked quite well for me. The closer to zero, the lower the tire wear.

I assume that's a first gen Q7, given supercharged (not turbo)?

We have one (2014), but it's the lower factory tune, ~280hp. Ours has snow tires on it year round, I'm not sure it can handle any more power.

Edit: I guess pre-facelift Gen2 Q7s were also supercharged. My bad.

Yeah, ours is the 4M that they made from 2016 to 2019. Tried out the 4L that replaced it in 2020 and I just hate the twin turbo powertrain. I'm trying to convince the wife we should get a cayenne e hybrid but she hasn't been going for it 😅

Yeah, ours is the 4M that they made from 2016 to 2019. Tried out the 4L that replaced it in 2020 and I just hate the twin turbo powertrain. I'm trying to convince the wife we should get a cayenne e hybrid but she hasn't been going for it 😅
That S/C motor isn't bad. My dad had the same in his A6 (probably a different tune). Ours in the Q7 gets the job done, and the power delivery is linear, you can't really tell that it's blown. (It is a little boring.) Works well in the mountains, which is what we use it for.

My partner has a 2021(?) S5 vert with the 3.0TT and it's awesome. She loves it. Sounds amazing.

Just changed my rear pads, brake flush (ATE type 200 fluid ) - 1 track day ( 7 sessions (1 warm up, 3 hot laps, 1 cool down) 35,000 km - rear rotors are fine.

Front pads still have 50% (OEM)
