Logically I agree with you all regarding the current market and price points but emotionally it's a hard pill to swallow.

Luckily I've become accustomed to bare bones cars over the years so the more minor rattles there are (existent or otherwise), I haven't noticed.

a monster resonant squeal that would occur from 3.5 to 5.5k rpm under moderate to full throttle
I admittedly tuned out a bit on this issue because I had my own dealer experience that helped me arrive at the conclusion I'm at now, where ultimately I just re-reset my expectations and just gave up on expecting the dealer to fix this issue, or even acknowledge its existence. Also my issue isn't quite the same as you describe; mine is a monster resonant squeal in the same rev range but under very light throttle. But close enough to pull this thread.

So I must have missed this fix. Did it work? And what exactly did you do?

Aside from the dealer experience, this is the one sore spot I have left for this car and I'd be delighted if I could finally resolve this.

curious about this noise - either you or @Victorofhavoc have a video?

This was the one that got me into tearing apart my door and checking everything; every wire, clip, and bolt.

I found one green clip broken, but I don't think that was the problem specifically. Certainly didn't help.

I did quite a bit of soundproofing with butyl, felt tape, and aggfoam during that time, but I suspect the main culprit was the front harness clip at the top front of the door. The sound proofing sleeve stopped about 3" short of the clip and the clip rattled and moved with every light press. I believe under the light pressure of the door card the exposed wires would vibrate against the metal frame of the door and it would resonate through the plastic and hollow spaces. I covered the rest of the wire with sound insulating wrap (identical to oem wrap) and placed a bit of felt tape under the clip so it's more snug.

It's the circled guy here... You can see how much wire hangs out. What you can't see is how much that white clip moves... A lot.

I never got a video, unfortunately.

Took it to the dealer 3 times and they kept saying they think it's the screen so they tore that up multiple times to no avail. They refused to acknowledge it for a 4th visit because technically they'd then be admitting to lemon law qualification in my state.

To best describe it, at medium to heavy throttle, anywhere 30% up, it sounded like a cheap speaker resonating against its own case at a specific frequency and gave that loud, deep/pitchy plastic vibration. It was loud enough to cover every other noise in the car; induction, exhaust, music, other rattles, everything.

My enjoyment of this car increased 5 fold with this noise gone, and it's been easier to ignore other "little" noises like the screen ticking.

Was this the noise as I suspect I may have the same issue . It only happens when on the throttle and off in the higher rpm range . It’s been driving me nuts and sounds like it’s coming from that area but sometimes it sounds I like it may be coming from the front corner closer to the dash and window . It may just be resonating. I was thinking it could be my speaker also but I think it may be what you posted now . Did you end up fixing it ? It also happens more when it’s cold out , over 60 degrees and I barely hear it .

Sadly the noise Vic fixed is not the same noise that's been plaguing me and many others.

There are many threads on this topic, it's pretty prolific on this platform. Mine I think is a little bit worse than most and honestly may be something else entirely, but the video linked in the first post in this thread on the Civic forums is definitely the best representation of the noise I've seen on the Internet.

https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threads/waste-gate-rattle-noise.52416/

It's almost always attributed to the wastegate and declared "normal". I think my noise is actually more along the lines of the whole "K20C1/8 doesn't have balance shafts" angle, because I'm pretty certain I can hear this noise described in the above video very faintly, but the significant noise in my car can be duplicated in much the same way, but resonates pretty strongly and I can feel it in the pedal and throughout the drivetrain.

Anyway, I've ranted about the noise plenty. Back to my point- I let it bother me for a while, and decided it was time to let it go. And guess what- now it only bothers me when I allow it to, like right now, in this thread lol.

Sort of. It's a little hard to tell in the video since I can't turn my head to pinpoint and listen closely.

Mine was tremendously louder than that and would start at about the same kind of volume/tone, but then would increase in pitch as the frequency went up. It's possible it's the clip for you and not as much the wire like mine. Mine, you could not talk over it and even with volume at 20 it would overpower music.

Yours sounds more like my door handle cable rattle from those cables you see right behind the silver door handle with the door card off. That wasn't as pitchy but would echo through the whole panel.

I have noticed my wastegate noise gets worse when the heat is on and seems to resonate via the ducts into the passenger side dash vent the most.

This one doesn't bother me because I can hear it change volume and rate with rpm and throttle, so I can easily tell what it is. Once the duty cycle drops and the turbo warms up, it also gets quieter.

Unlike you, I do not feel it in the pedal. In my z I can feel the crank wobble in the pedal at 7500rpm or higher, so if you're feeling the vibration increase with rpm I would assume it's balance and crank related... Or even if it changes as you coast in gear from high rpm it's probably balance.

I have a similar rattle over on the passenger door area but I had a worse ringing/rattle that ended up being the plastic trim behind the rear view mirror. When I press up on there, that noise stops. I figure I'd go in there and shove some felt tape or something when I get the fitcamx but for now, I've kind of learned to live with it.

It's temperature dependent too. When it's colder it doesn't seem to rattle as much.

I would also recommend lubing all rubber bits with shin etsu or similar.

My door seals from factory were grey. They were even dry and brittle feeling to the touch. I spent a while last weekend cleaning them up with dawn dish soap and water, then drying off really well, and lubing with shin etsu. It helped with a lot of the dumb little noises, like the ticking and cracking you get going over small/sharp bumps. It weirdly also helped silence some of my upper seat belt rattle.

Sadly it didn't solve the window rattle with the windows partially down, but I believe that's due to the weak outer window seal area that's prevalent on all honda/acura and the slack in the window channel.

I'll have to look into that shin etsu -- I typically just wipe it down with 303 aerospace protectant.

Yeah I've got that window gap too. Mine results in some shudder when I go over bumps.

I asked the dealer to check it out but they "couldn't replicate it" even though it was doing it on my drive TO the dealership that morning.
